Here is a video of me playing at a gig (I'm the vocalist) ... next to me is my son (on lead guitar) wearing his Leeds United bobble hat just to piss off all the Chelsea/Arsenal/Scum/Liverpool fans in the audience.

Well done Billy, a talented family. You don't look nearly as grumpy as I'd imagined you <cheers>

Billy you must be a big fan of Joe Bonamassa, who's probably the best living guitar player around.

lol Eire, grumpy my bum .... hey Doc, not joking here, but this kid on the vid is waaaay better than Bonamassa (who I love to listen to) ... Joe B is actually limited in his playing (he stays within certain blues structures and scales), whereas this kid was just born to play (you won't hear guitarists playing full on rock scales on a blues classic like Stormy Monday, because it is a difficult thing to cross cultures this way and stay true to the tune) ... just listen to the speed he conjures up on this tune, pity the lights were dimmed ... thing is he plays with speed yet still manages to keep a melody going as well ... supremely gifted, yet not that interested in making a career out of music which is just crazy ... staying patient though, think I need to get him up to ER again and a meet up with you lot so you can talk sense into his skull

Thing is Billy, its difficult to make a good living from music which is a shame. Id give anything to be gifted like that. My future son in law is a class guitarist also. Has done his fair share of giggings, earnings mediocre. He also teaches music and does really well from that with both private lessons and teaching it in schools. Doing more weddings now even though its not his favourite and gppd money in those too, at least in Ireland

Hi Billy, did you prepare for this by shouting at Elland Road all afternoon? Only kidding.

Great effort, but sadly you chose a song that belongs to Mountain for me. If you haven't heard it, check out the Woodstock version on album or Youtube - all 19 minutes of it! Not so sure I'd encourage your lad to take the musical route. More difficult to break through in that business than it is to be a footballer - and we know how many fail in that!

Can't believe you guys are talking about greatest living guitarists & not mentioning Jimmy Page. Jeez! Kenny Wayne Shepherd will probably take over this mantle when Page dies. If you don't know him, KWS's dad was a top producer, so as a kid, Kenny was playing with all the greats as a kid. Imagine holding your won with BB King at the age of 11 !! First album came out when he was 16. Listening to it almost had my mate in tears as he's been playing/gigging for nearly 40 years & couldn't get near this boy. Check him out!

Jock Jimmy and the others may still be alive but unfortunate they're now past their best. Joe Bonamassa is brilliant and I disagree with Bucks about him being a one trick pony. Bucks please listen to some of his back catalog and you'll see Hendrix, Slick, Moor, Page, Clapton Beck and others.
