Great win today for Leeds. Hopefully we can finish the season on a high and give us something to build on for next year. I think Warnock knows how to get the best out of Paynter, and i think he could be very prolific next year. If Ross, Snoddy and Clayton all stay aswell i think we might challenge for promotion next year.

Yeah thats true, and i don't really think Grayson gave him a chance. He was proven at League one level, and a lot of League one players can cut it at The championship. IE, Lambert, Jackson, Holt, Mackail Smith, Sharp, Austin etc.

Oh come on. The difference between Paynter than and Paynter now is about 3 or 4 stone!

He was fat, unfit, and slow, both physically and mentally. And probably depressed which was what made him fat in the first place.

He has lost weight, got himself fit, and is in the right frame of mind to play football. Now we will see exactly what all the fuss was really about - unless we get rid of him of course, and then someone else will get all the benefit

    Which would be daft

That one season in League 1 was a fluke, he never made it to 15 goals in any season before that playing at a low level. He may still have a place in the squad but some people are on twitter saying he's better than Becchio and frankly it's ridiculous.

Yeah I have to agree. He could have a future with us but i want to see how he performs in the last couple of games before I decide. And I think it's unfair to say Larry didn't give him a chance. He had chanes at the start of the season after becoming fit again. He had chances during the middle (and took one of them against Preston) and chances at the end with McCormack. To say a player who has scored 3 goals in two season is better than a player who has scored something like 29 (19 last season 10 this season) in the same space is just plain wrong.

I think the problem with Becchio is the way he is being played. Too many managers and other people who don't see him play week after week believe he can play as a lone striker when he can't. He is a poacher. Watch his goals, he is always latching onto crosses and heading them or booting them into the back of the net (West Ham, Barnsley, Bristol City hatrick, Middlesbrough twice, Burnley ect). I think NW has realized that Becchio aint no lone striker, he's a born and bred poacher. He needs wingers crossing the ball into the box for him to put away not defenders hoofing the ball up to him and expecting him to do some sort of Beckford vs Chelsea.

Lads he scored two passed the posh. This is his level and im sorry to deflate you if you really think paynters up for it. Peterborough are a league one club punching above there weight. Lets not forget all the chances he has spooned in a leeds shirt. Prove me wrong billy but two goals against them means **** all to me.

Bucks - I was more impressed with the way he played, and he lookedlike he was offering the same when he came on in the last game too. But glad he scored, especially as a lone striker

I can't believe two goals against poor opposition has got people excited. Nunez when he first arrived with a couple of goals, remember how he was going to be the answer to our prayers and Grella the same? Paynter was useless before the two goals and as Simon-21 has already pointed out, he had one fluky season. Please... NW is a great manager not a magician...

Paynter was absolutely class at Swindon and he has all the physical attributes to his game. And Grella is a class player. Every time he played he had a good game. He was also one of those players who was not given a chance under Grayson. Lloyd Sam is another. I know he suffered injury but he was amazing at Charlton a few seasons back. Grayson didn't rotate the squad around enough. Warnock gave Charlie Taylor, Billy Paynter and Robbie Rodgers a game today. All players who are never really in the frame. Hopefully some of these players can be given a chance to show what their capable of in the last 3 games. It'll also help Warnock decide who to stick with and who to get rid of over the summer.

He wasn't class at Swindon??? My mate is a Swindon supporter, I was taking the piss out of him when we signed Paynter, he said we are welcome to him and told me Swindon fans themselves were scratching their heads trying to work out themselves where the one season of goals came from. Thinking it was sour grapes I started looking round and the forums were echoing the same thoughts, Swindon fans couldn't give two tits about him leaving. As for given a chance, no goals in 10 games for Brighton, care to explain that one.

Warnock would have played these players sooner if he had believed they were any good, remember the midweek thrashing against Forest - Warnock blamed tired legs stating we had nobody else who he could play. If he believed in these players he would have used them, this is season over put a few in the shop window and hope we can shift them routine.

And Grella's now playing at Bury. Is that all because SG didn't give him a chance?
