Bristol City may set up Lee Camp for a summer transfer to the Gate

Bristol City are weighing up a move for AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Lee Camp.

The 30-year-old ex-England Under-21 stopper has 12 months left on his contract at the Goldsands Stadium, but could be made available for transfer after falling behind Polish international Artur Boruc and new arrival Adam Federici in the pecking order.
City manager Steve Cotterill is in the market for a goalkeeper with first-team pedigree to challenge Frank Fielding and knows Camp well after working with him previously at Nottingham Forest.
Camp features on a list of potential goalkeeping targets and Cotterill has been monitoring the situation at Bournemouth ever since the south-coast club achieved promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season.

Ousted by Boruc, who joined the Cherries on loan from Southampton last September, Camp has not featured in manager Eddie Howe's starting line-up since January.

The vastly-experienced Boruc has since joined the Cherries on a one-year deal following his release by Saints on May 26, while Howe last week snapped up Federici on a three-year deal from Reading.
Camp's chances of playing top-flight football next season now appear remote and the Cherries appear to be ready to listen to offers for Camp.
Desperate to play first-team football, Camp started last season as first choice at the Goldsands Stadium, but featured just five times after Boruc arrived on September 19 last year.
He is well known to Cotterill, who selected him on a regular basis in the Championship during his time as manager at Nottingham Forest in 2011 and 2012.

City have also been linked with Southend United keeper Daniel Bentley, a

they watched on a regular basis last season, but the 21-year-old would almost certainly have to play second fiddle to Fielding, who played 58 times for City last season and was named in the League One team of the year, if he moved to Ashton Gate.
Eager to play first-team football next season, Bentley is discussing a contract extension with Southend officials and looks set to stay at Roots Hall for now. Given that Fielding is expected to start next season as City's first-choice custodian in the Championship, Cotterill and director of football Keith Burt face a potentially difficult task in recruiting another goalkeeper.

Happy with Bentley or Camp to be honest.

The step up in quality will be hard for a keeper, so it'd be good to have someone with either proven ability or first-team Championship experience to challenge Fielding. Next season won't be so smooth, so we need confidence that we have at least two quality keepers.
