The arrival of Taylor and Hollands are for me key acquisitions… for one reason… Both were captains for their respective clubs last year and both did so under two of the best managers in the division (Tisdale and Howe).

I think we’d all pretty much agree that we were desperately lacking in terms of players with leadership quality last season and I hope/expect these two to add this missing ingredient to what appears to be a rather interesting group of players.

I’m not saying that either should automatically be instated as captain, this is something only the gaffer can decide. After all he gets to see them day in day out in training. I’m just emphasising what I’m sure we all know, that it’s important to have leaders of men within the ranks… especially when there’s so many players who are new to the club.

I'm guessing Dailly will remain skipper, however, if he is only to be bit player then Hollands should fit the bill. As we are starting with a fresh slate, we should install Hollands or Taylor as you mentioned. Both the Cherries and the Grecians did exceptionally well last season under their leadership.

Man Utd did it with Neville club captain and Vidic team captain was it?

I agree with TVR that Taylor has been brought in to be captain.

With all the new signings I'd completely forgotten about JJ! I don't think he is vocal enough, and has a tendency to go missing in games - which usually means him cropping up with a goal!
Hollands would be my choice, as I think the Captain should have an influence in every region of the pitch, which is something think a centre midfielder does best.

Hollands is going to have to fight for his spot with Alonso and Stephens... not even sure which 2 CM we're going to start with, whereas Taylor will definitely be at the centre of defence on day 1... barring injury. Also I do like having a dominant CB as captain.
