Waiting outside in all weathers to get the players autographs. In those days i would quite often go to Eastville on alternate saturdays.Get the no 6 from Hartcliffe to Winterstoke rd,6d return, programme 6d,entrance 1/6,that was pocket money gone.Occasionally the groundsmen (from my old school)would ask if i wanted to sit by him ,and help him at half time.So i saved 1/6,Oh what happy days.
Yep, those were the days, City ground one week, Rovers the next, then came the choice, red or blue, Atyeo or Bradford, big John won, did i make the right choice, well i think so, once a red always a red.
Getting a leg up the wall by The Eastend to negotiate that little bit of barbed wire, while casting furtive glances towards The Police hut before dropping into some swaying ciderhead from Crackers Corner in the outside urinals (that would make your eyes burn). Ahhh memories...

johnson says bounce around the ground................. Ok. maybe not as old as you old farts on here, but thats the best memory I can think of! Oh yeah and a little thing called winning football matches, oh those were the days..
Nothing wrong with being an old fart! remember being taught maths by student teacher John Atyeo at Lockleaze and the thrill of him taking us for "games" also remember only being able to see a small portion of the pitch between the other supporters in a 36,000 crowd and having to ask who scored the goal, would I swap the packed crowds, standing and a poor view for todays seated stand, good view and less atmosphere? you bet I would, that's probably what makes me an old fart (and proud!)
ITS NOT JUMPERS ANYMORE just hoodies....I had a red fleece hoody back in 1978....MISSUS CHUCKED IT OUT in 2002...went to wear it and it was gone....they knew how to do things in them days........quality!
