In a move that will surprise absolutely nobody anywhere, UEFA have shown their unwillingness to punish racism and fined Lazio â¬40,000 for the disgusting behaviour of their club sanctioned hooligans at White Hart Lane. The fascist Romans have 3 days to appeal, but will probably stifle their laughter and get the petty cash box out. As it's not the first time that the club has been 'punished' for this sort of crap, would it be too much to expect the ruling body to grow a spine and take some action? When the ****bags act like this with none other than Michel Platini at the game and nothing's done, it's clear that the organisation isn't that bothered by this sort of thing. Rumours that a Blatter enforced round of handshaking will be demanded following any further infractions are unconfirmed.
It would be good to say that this is 'unbelievable' but unfortunately it is what we have come to expect. I have no doubt that the Serbia issue will also be photoshopped out of UEFA's bigger picture and the appalling situation will continue. It is ridiculing the game of football and I cannot see the situation changing until there has been a complete change of management within both UEFA and FIFA.
So Bendnter got fined 80K for showing off his branded boxers, while Lazio get fined 40K for racist abuse. I truly despair.
Don't think anyone's actually surprised NSS - but the day that we stop registering our disgust at their ineptitude and/or corruption will be a very bad day indeed!!
Ridiculous. Every single case of racist chanting like that should involve some kind of 5 year suspended play behind closed doors/points deduction/ thrown out of the competition depending on the severity of the racist chanting. Also they should stop giving pathetic fines and hit them with a meaningful amount.
This, and what happened in Serbia will have the Serbian FA rolling around the floor laughing knowing they will probably get the same- shameful.
Cole has been fined £90,000 for and offensive tweet, almost 3 times the amount Lazio were fined, incredible,at least the FA are trying to do something, more than can be said for UEFA
Don't think the FA deserve any praise when it comes to racism. Suarez and Terry should of been banned for a lot longer.
Yes indeed. And do we expect there to be no repeat of this disgraceful behaviour? Of course not. The club will simply pay out another minuscule fine whist opposing teams have to deal with something that could unsettle some of their players. It amounts to giving advantage to those clubs prepared to allow racists a platform, because its bound to affect players on the other team. Whilst we'd like to think it would encourage them to play better, we don't know that. Better a 'level playing field'.
Racism is common in France and Switzerland and very deeply seeded. Sure in France they'll round you up solely based on who you are and ship you off, you don't have to do anything wrong. Switzerland, sure many Nazis went there, they helped even more escape to South America and elsewhere and held on to all the cash of murdered people and when relatives tried to get it back they couldn't. That's the Blatter type Swiss for you. You wont get justice for racism when those two are most likely racist as fk
http://www.uefa.com/community/feedback/index.html <-- probably pointless, they seem to only want website feedback. And their captcha image is missing on my PC. Maybe clicking the "Payment problems" would get some attention; probably not. UEFA Route de Genève 46 Case postale CH-1260 Nyon 2 Switzerland http://twitter.com/uefacom <-- only a trending flood will draw any attention. I'm up for it, but wont do it alone. Joining one of the already-in-place anti-racism organisations would be the best bet. Then again, my feeling, just like Morgan Freeman's, is that the way to get rid of racism is to "stop talking about it.".
I filled in the web form. I think you are right, probably pointless, but worth the 2mins it took me to tell them to grow a pair (not is so few words).
Chelsea say that if John Terry racially abuses another opponent, he'll be sold. Not sacked, sold. As in hang around the club until the following transfer window. On full pay. That'll show him...
