Accidentally stuck this through my headphones, a classic by the Strawbs.. Reminds me of the Coach and Eight in Durham 72/74 circa.. Anyone remember those days?
Iv'e got all my old stuff on the computer now, was listening to 'Reason to believe' Rod Stewart earlier and you don't realise how good the music was back then. I call it 'my world' in between looking after the most meaningful woman in life and the beautiful child we have..
Was at college in Durham then great times, used to love Dunhelm house seeing new bands ( wild turkey and kieth christmas spring to mind )also used to like a local band called Brass alley. Went back there for the first time about 6 weeks ago and couldn't believe what a ****hole the place is now doorways full of vodka bottles and special brew cans ruined my memories of how i remembered it.
Reason to believe was the A side in the original release with Maggie May being a B side. Both class records
Just listened to Lay down brought back some happy memories seen them at the mayfair with the Keef hartley band.
brass ally great local band but equally as good was a local band called Lucas Tyson they played a lot of ground hogs great times great music
Its like climbing the street out of the Hovis advert getting up to that Angel. Cardiac Hill that should be called. Good pub for music last time a was in tho.
Remember it all well mate, I used to drink in the coach and angel 72-74. Remember Brass Alley very well, saw them a few times in spennymoor club. There was a few bands kicking around ferryhill at the time, one of my mates was a hell of a drummer and there was of course Alan White from the village who went on to drum for the Ono band and then Yes. Oh happy days..
Brass Ally and Lucas Tyson couple of canny turns. There was some class bands doing the rounds of the clubs back then. Speaking of Maggie May I stuck it on a compilation CD for the car a few months back. My daughter borrowed a few CD's as she had left her collection at the caravan. How amazed I was on visiting them the other day and my 4 year old grandson was sitting playing with his toys while singing "You lured me away from home, just to save you from being alone!" Hahaha My daughter told me it was the first time she had heard it too, which I was surprised at as she is 27 now. The older grandson's favourite song is Boris the Spider!
