I really don't know why I bother to read this dross but I made the mistake of opening it again to see if he could suprise me! But no, the same crap! His explanation about why Newcastle will be beaten at home against Everton is the worst piece of journalism I have seen from an ex-footballer. It is simply lazy fanciful rubbish
    Yours is disbelief

I dont think hes said we would win once. Hes had us down to lose every game I think.

One day he will be right but NOT TOMORROW!

He is saying we will lose because last season we were expected to thrash Wigan and we only won 1-0. Never mind, comments like these will hopefully get the players fired up for the game.

Does anyone have a link to the highlights of the game against Stoke?

He's blatantly going to predict a loss every week until it happens though.

He'll get his wish soon enough, but what a knacker haha

I was starting to panic, as i thought he might actually tip us to win. But good old Lawro Newcastle to lose.
Can't wait for his man City and Man utd predictions. 5-0 and 4-0 defeats.

All the players have stated in the press they are not looking at the table and are taking it one game at a time. That to me says they 'don't expect to just show up and get three points'.

Yep. See Lawro's last decade of predictions for numerous examples :)

I still think we're on for a tough match though and it'll be a decent test at home but I still reckon we have enough spirit and quality to get the 3 points.

Merson on the other hand absolutely loves us now.......I knew he was really a closet Toon fan, now he's on that bandwagon loud and proud!!!

Newcastle have been absolutely outstanding so far this season. I haven't seen any team go to the Britannia Stadium and make Stoke look as ordinary as they did on Monday night.

I've never seen their supporters so flat and that was all down to Newcastle's work rate and team ethic. Every one of those players knows their job and they play to a shape. Leon Best is a great example; he's not a top-class centre-forward, but he works his socks off and leads from the front.

I'm not saying they'll get into Europe, but they remind me of how Everton played in the year they finished fourth. They always seem to score the first goal, which is very important, and they make their opponents chase the game.

My only fear is that St James' Park will be packed full of fans thinking they'll win this game easily. The Newcastle supporters deserve to enjoy their team's form, but it's important they stay with them for the whole 90 minutes, even if they go behind.

You have to remember that Everton are a very good team, even though they've not been getting the results to prove it. They've had some tough fixtures lately, but I'm sure David Moyes will send them out full of confidence because player for player they're as good as their opponents.

Their big problem is going forward. They haven't had the money to go out and buy a top 20-goal-a-season striker and that's been the case for a long time. You can't rely on someone like Tim Cahill to score 15 goals from midfield every year and with Louis Saha injured so often, they haven't got a gifted goalscorer. They don't make a lot of chances and they need someone who can put away one in three of those.

They'd love someone like Demba Ba in their team. Tony Pulis reckons his knee is like a time bomb waiting to explode, but I reckon he's already paid back his transfer fee at Newcastle.

However, I see a draw here. Both teams will work hard at blocking each other out and it should be fairly close.

    PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1

Let him keep predicting us to lose, hopefully we'll keep proving him wrong.

Since he predicted a loss here.....guess what? I don't think he's gonna be predicting a win or a draw at city and manure away is he?!?!

That said, I don't give a toss what he thinks, and as many above have pointed out let the team keep proving his ass wrong, and that's what I want to see.

It is horrendous journalism. Its akin to Robbie Savage predicting us to go down last season because we lost against his Derby side. Nowt like basing all your judgement on one game is there?

Merson has actually given a fair assesment there and would have to agree with a draw, I'm trying not to read to much in to previous match stats as they are well in our favour. But it is all about how we perform on the day.

We have a real battling spirit with an attitude of not knowong when we are beat, so can see us getting something from this game.

Lawro is just a brainless ****tard.

Like the Spurs game? Or Blackburn in the Cup? Or the Villa game? Or Scunthorpe in the Cup?

He's probably chancing his arm and guessing that we will get beat due to the couple of injuries we have. We've been forced to change the line-up due to injuries but i still think we have enough talent in the squad to do everton, tho i would take a draw.

Wow, Merson's been bitten by the Toon bug. I can understand his reservations about our fans since he is an outsider and all but if he took the time to read these forums etc then he'd know that almost all bar the most ****tarded of Newcastle supporters expect a game against Everton to be piss easy.
