It's always a rather futile debate and I don't think anyone can say it's a fact either way. I think if Gerrard had Makelele, Essien and Drogba doing the donkey work and his sole responsibility was to shoot on sight he'd have done much the same as Lampard. As a pure goalscorer then Lampard is better but I think Gerrard as an overall player was better at his peak.

I can't really be bothered to argue about it as I'm no great fan of Gerrard and I'm not sure why on a day that you should be out getting pissed celebrating the greatest day your club will ever have you are caring about this, but by your logic Kalou is better than Matt Le Tissier, Wes Brown is better than Ledley King, that Barcelona keeper with the silly hair is better than Pat Jennings etc etc. It's impossible to say definitively who is/was a better player.
