I don't think it's any secret that finances at C.R. are tight, the type of manager we'd probably be after would expect nothing less. Besides, they'd still have the lure of Premiership football, and be inheriting a mid-table squad. There'll be money to spend, just not tens of millions!
PMSL Lambert will cherry pick our players, yeah after McNally has stuck a HUGE transfer fee on them, so even if they do go whoever is in charge would be left with quite a nice pot of cash
Am I the only one who's excited at the prospect of a new era in Norwich City's history ? PL has done wonders for us, but in the cold light of day he's probably 'taken us a far as he can'. Time for a 'new broom' we move on OTBC ... CTI ... ILW(used to)T
Totally agree, KIO. We have a strong squad that have a years experience of the Premier League and if anyone thinks we can't find a manager that can keep us up and more, they need to get a grip!
Sorry but no. I think without Lambert we may well be nearer the bottom of the table than this season. It might be hard to take it if he is leaving us, but he is a very special manager. We certainly won't go into freefall without but equally we won't be enjoying such good times!
I think we were always going to struggle next year with our playing budget and the loss of momentum IMO Don't beat yourself up about it DM, we'll be fine, trust me
I didn't think we would struggle under Paul to be honest, every season has been such an improvement and I thought it we had our defence sorted we would be flying... Our playing budget was enough to buy 3 or 4 really good players as well and I think that could have made the difference.
Because Lambert took us from second bottom of League One to midtable Premiership in a bolt. No ordinary manager can do that especially considering how poor the squad was when he took over! Hughton may well be decent for us, but I don't think we'll see another manager in the world compare to Lambert for some time.
Nigel Adkins done it at Southampton and he used to be a physio! I'm looking forward to seeing who the new boss will be (although if by some miracle he stays, I will be delighted)
don't forget we were critical of lambert sometimes as well, for example when he played 3 centre backs, and other tactical errors. Ok he got it right more times than not, but he is not god! as a club we are in a millions times better position than when he took over. i guess we just want to hear either way as soon a possible, i hate this void left by the media.
I have tweeted Mcnasty asking for some official word, as I am reluctant to say anything unless I hear it from a reliable source. For all we know it could have been just a bit of tear up like with Holty and it may be resolved yet, especially if he doesn't like what Villa have got to say. Also, do you think that Mcnasty and Lambert have a honest and open relationship and have built up a bond over the last 3 years? I imagine a conversation between them that goes something like this. Mcnasty "Hey Paul, I know things went wrong yesterday, but we still value you and your input. Come in you daft sod and lets have another chat I am sure we can come to an arrangement. Paul "Yeah, I will pop in and we can have another chat I don't want to walk from what we have built the last 3 years"
Whilst heavily paraphrased I can imagine something like that happening, lets not forget if you're a professional you ought to be able to put aside any emotions and personal issues to have an open and honest discussion. Well at least I always try to do so even if the person I am dealing with is a total numpty
There are now suggestions that negotiations are on going. Let's just wait and see, but if he goes, then let's see what the next person does, we didn't believe anyone could turn us around , but he did, and there is no reason why a different person couldn't offer more than Lambert can. Who knows, if he does go, I want to fecking stuff that team next season, assuming he goes to another PL team
Why is The Sun the only main place reporting that he has left, there is nothing on BBC or the Norwich official site.
Because he hasn't actually left yet. If he has, it will be confirmed soon. One of the SSN reporters on twitter said that he is still negotiating with Norwich. Obviously, with the Sun article, it sounds like there's no smoke without fire. I assume the scenario over the alst couple of days is this: Villa made an official approach to the Norwich board; the Norwich board rejected it out of hand (possibly without consulting Lambert fully); Lambert has got annoyed (or more likely not outwardly if we know him, just he's stated he wants to discuss further and hear what Villa wanted to say); he's made this clear to the Norwich board; they've agreed to let him meet Villa rep.s and in the meantime they've asked to enter further negotiations with Lambvert. Obviously that's purely speculation, but it sounds to me that we are now competing with Villa directly to get Lambert's signature for a new contract and the likely thing that will be negotiated with us is changes in the budget. It sounds like the Sun has therefore got it mostly right (if my guesses are OK), but inevitably wanted to put a SHOCKING!!!!! spin on the story, when in fact it is normal negotiating. We shall just wait and see, but it really is quite clear that it is by no means certain that Lambert has left. If I was him, I would certainly, at least, want to hear what the Villa board have to say (if only to discover why OGS and Martinez etc. have turned them down!!)
Hopefully he does stay, It does show how The Sun talk **** as they say it as he has gone, but then we know they twist stories.
