So £19M for Laca Or £7m For Austin and £7m for Loic or even £8M each What would be people's preference? Laca would excite me more, and as Juan pointed out has a bigger re-sale value. Austin and Loic are 27 - 29 so have 3-4 years max at top level? In our current predicament I think we need goals and thats more of a certainty with the two players who have prem experience.
It's purely to sell Season Tickets. Put in a bid knowing it will either get rejected or the player concerned isn't interested. Shows ambition/ intent and convinces people that things have changed so they renew/ buy tickets.
I'm not sure how Rolo putting up a second thread on the same topic is trying to sell season tickets renewals but, if so, you have to admit the Toon hierarchy are getting more cunning in their attempts to sell the season ticket renewals.
It is all media hype or the NUFC drumming up some excitement in a bid to get season tickets sales. It has just been reported that the NUFC hierarchy have no idea where this news has come from and haven't made a bid for Lacazette. :-( knew it was too good to be true!
Personally I think it's an absolutely atrocious decision. The clowns making this move want shooting - at what point are they going to realise that they literally create a mercenary mentality by paying over the odds for players who don't want to move, but who are forced to by the size of the offer? I cannot believe Charnley and Carr think this is a good idea. You could buy both Austin and Carroll for the same amount, and guarantee goals. What you won't do with either of those, of course, is make a huge profit. This is just a staggering case of "can we not learn a lesson" - anyone conned into thinking this is a clever move is an idiot.
I don't understand the club. They bang on about value for money. How the **** is paying £19 million for a mercenary value for money? Unless they are thinking a couple of seasons of banging in the goals and they can sell him for £60-70 million? Buy Austin and Remy for **** sake.

Having Said the above I go straight over to Twitter to find a French Journo tweeting that Newcastle have had a second bid of 30M Euros accepted by OL for Lacazette, however the player does not want to join us! Its got to be bull, but why cant i stay away, why do i feel the need to know whats going on all the time.
To be fair, who doesn't count as a mercenary in modern football? I'd say there is something to be said for signing dubious quality young players for pittance and hoping they pan out, but Lacazette isn't that. It is completely ridiculous to bother bidding for him, when he could walk into a Liverpool or a Spurs, for example. I'd be happy with Austin, but we aren't going to bid for him because he's free in Summer, but Villa will. Villa seem like they're going to go nuts trying to stay up.
