Alright lads Just wondering on how Kyle Naughton is getting on in the prem. He was a class act for us last season and all Leicester fans wanted us to buy him but he choose prem football and you cant blame him. He was the best right back in the league last season by a country mile. He never had a bad game for us and with his pace and skill he was always an option going forward and chips in with more then his fair share of goals Good luck for the season anyway lads and i think you will stay up quite comfortably
We take him back any day of the week. He was the one player out of all the loans last season we all wanted back
i presume max is being sarcastic. he has been excellent so far, slotted in at right back and looks like he's played for the club for years. i certainly hope we can afford to purchase him in january - it seems a permanent move is on the cards
superman you've rumbled me.... i guess this tactic would have only worked with a Spurs fan so we could get him cheaper
someone mentioned his contract runs out soon so we may well get him cheaper than he's worth anyway! i'd offer £2.5m... i reckon he's worth closer to £5m. he's under 24 though so it could go to tribunal
Class act but being young and English ,we will probably need to give him back ,hopefully not.. please log in to view this image
He's been very good and learning, he'll be very tight to the attackers on sat. Got a wee bit of lesson first half against villla but was sharper and tighter second half , after his half time bollocking/gentle encouragment
Looks very promising, and has settled into the Prem well. I do wonder how much better than Russell Martin he actually is, but the more competition the better. I just wouldn't pay £2.5 million for him when we've got a more than adequate replacement though...
I think he has something that Russ lacks and that is pure pace. Russ' positioning has been first class in the centre of defence and you cannot question his reading of the play and marshalling of the back four but he isn't coming up against anyone like Victor Moses or Scott Sinclair in there. Out on the right his lack of pace would be cruely exposed in my opinion. I say Naughton would be a good signing for us and being so young has lots of potential to refine his game further.
I have to agree with that, plus Russ's versatility makes him ideal cover for anywhere across the back! He could probably play in goal too!
hucks, naughton is a better full back than martin, he's quicker, just as good getting forward and good defensively. i wouldn't bet against him breaking into the england squad one day so to say you wouldn't sign him for £2.5m cos we have an adequate replacement is odd. he is easily worth that and more - we should constantly be looking to buy better and better players and improve the team in all areas when the chance arises
Does anyone actually know how long is left on his contract? I've heard it's a few years yet but superman says it runs out this year... Either way, he is awesome and would be a great permanent signing, but I doubt we'll get him for less than £4m tbh, given the potential that he has.
There is actually some truth in this, even if it was meant as a joke. Everyone on here is saying he has been excellent, but I'll have to disagree with that. He has been excellent generally in attack (With the exception of his shooting, which isn't great even for a full-back) but his defending does actually leave a (only a little) bit to be desired. Several times this season, (Several vs Aston Villa alone) I've seen him lunge into tackles and completely miss them putting pressure on the rest of the team. Watch the Craig Bellamy goal in the Anfield game, he does get beaten a bit more often than I'd like. I appreciate that facing Gabby Abonglahor isn't much fun, but I'm just trying to say Naughts is very good, but not brilliant.
We wanted to buy him in the summer but Sven said he was too expensive and how we thrown money around his value hsd to be at least 5M. Since then his value has probaly improved since he is now proving himself in the prem Hopefully Nigel can get us up and we try and buy him
If Harry is panicking about the tax evasion case, he may let things like fringe players contracts slip hopefully
... I believe a big person always admits when they're wrong, so here goes: I may have been wrong... We should of course be looking to improve our squad at all times, and it was very short sighted of me to say that, just because Russ is as good as Naughton now (I'll get on to that in a minute), Naughton won't, in time, get much better. However, Naughton is only marginally quicker than Martin (and Martin has some sort of urgency about him going forward that I think makes up for this), Naughton's crossing may be better than Martin's, but Martin's shooting is streets ahead, while their one on one defending is at least fairly equal - I can recall several times when both have been caught out at right-back in the last season in a bit. Despite this, Martin has played, what? One game for us at right-back this season, so comparison is futile. We'll just have to take Lambert's word for it, and if that makes me wrong, then so be it. Martin's done a terrific job at centre-back anyway.
You think Naughtons shooting is bad? He shooting is quality. He smacked in a 30 yarder, and 2 25 yarders last season for us
