If you don't get news about US Soccer ( why would you), but we got rid of Mr. Tacics Bob Bradley and now have Klinsmann. For years we have wanted Klinsmann but for years he has said he wants to completely revamp our youth system as he did in Germany ( Look at them now!). Hopefully this is a sign the US soccer federation is serious about really making the US a power in the world's game and as a coach here and still playing, I am very excited to see what Klinsmann's plans are. Makes this Friday even better, especially after the Galatassary result yesterday!
Bout F***ing time! Ever since 08 when he left Bayern and after the whole tapping up when Benitez was in charge, Klinsmann has wnated this job. but he wants to do away with the ODP bull**** and make the college system back-up to the pro system ( late bloomers, still want to play and get an education, still another route to get to the pros, etc). As the u-17 world cup showed, we are not mature enough compared to other countries, they look like men compared to us and that is because 3/4 of our kids are in clubs and not looking to play pro whilst other countries ( Germany, brazil, spain, Mexico, etc) are all playing pro or about to sign pro. Exciting times ahead man.
Well he lives over there doesn't he? He is a good appointment, but to be honest I thought Bradley was realy good.
Yeah he should be a great addition To be honest i'm to up on my 'soccer'. How do you think the club standards have risen over the past few years? And, also do your mates follow football (soccer) or are you the odd ones out, like a friend of mine who loves baseball Anyway, it's refreshing to have some decent Americans on the site that don't use the word awesome in every sentence
This. From what I can remember, Bradley was a pretty good manager for the U.S. How come you got rid of him?
I thought Bradley was good at organising sides and making them tough to beat, but he never managed to get the right combination between attack and defence (IMO).
It became stale. Actually it is a lot like Benitez, had some good success ( 07 Gold Cup, 09 Confed cup final, 2 world cups qualifying one failed to get out of group, one we got out of, at one time ranked 4th!! in the world). But it became stale, some of his player selections seemed a bit surprising ( world cup 2010, Robbie Findley over the in form Edson Buddle??? what? or after Ricardo Clark conceded the first goal to Ghana, he yanks him, when we all knew Clark had been Garbage). Also they just signed him to a long term deal and now getting rid of him ( sound familiar). We needed a fresh face, also we need someone like Klinsmann to challenge our grassroots here. Bob was OK with things how they were ( when you are in and have contacts you don't want things to change as you could end up losing out). I think it is an excellent appointment and am excited as I work with a lot of youth and am doing my coahcing badges so I am highly excited.
Yes I am. Been on the grind since 07 with coaching ( college back then as an assistant). now I am in with a club academy here in Cinci and am trying to get the youth on the right track. Still playing semi-pro outdoor and pro indoor, still got the itch and am young enough to keep it up for awhile. Sky- Dude, how sick is this signing bro?
Who he selected seemed to stall this. When Donovan and Dempsey were given room to link up with the attack it was good to see, but we have been missing a trequartista for awhile now our CM's are engines that get up and back. Also we haven;t had a top top forward since Mcbride and are crying out for that. We had Charlie davies but he is still recovering after almost getting killed ( RIP to the girl who was driving).
Easy tiger. I scored an overhead kick last week and a flying header the week before. My mates in the process of putting it up on youtube. I'm hoping to be playing when im well past 40
