I'm skeptical, mainly because it was only a year and a bit since we had a huge clear-out to trim the squad down. Unless our players are on fairly low wages I'd be surprised if Lansdown was authorising a squad rebuild under a manager that, if history repeats, won't be here come January.

That being said, Lansdown seems fairly upbeat at the moment. Perhaps now that the new stadium dream is over he can focus his wallet towards some on-field success?

'You may be right but we do have defenders on the wage bill so until we ship them out then we have the cover'

We may have defenders in numbers but WTF use is that if they're useless.
And as a team we need to learn how to defend.
It was embarrassing at Cheltenham, we should have been 2-0 down in no time, utter chaos.

Yeh, we'll win more than we lose because of the overall quality of our squad.
But promotion with El Abd and co ? - may the Lord help us.

We looked shakey at Cheltenham in the first half, but in the second half we looked much better. It must be a coincidence the second el abd came off we improved dramatically

I don't disagree with you but they are there. We can get keep adding to the wage bill especially in positions that are already covered. We have numbers in defence, we don't have numbers up front, unless you see JET, Sam and Wilbs staying injury and suspension free all season!

    I agree - you need 4 forwards

'I agree - you need 4 forwards' - We have excellent strikers, midfielders and wingers for this division.

We also need 4 central defenders - we have ONE good one - Osbourne.
    Williams and Flint are ordinary.
    El Abd is El Abd.
Whether Ayling is anything other than a RB/WB only time will tell.

How many more years do we have to say that we need to shore up the defence. Sort out the defence and the rest should take care of itself but then again this is Bristol City.

I know it's way to early to put a timeline on when we can expect to see how the rebuilt squad will perform, but knowing our supporters it will have to be fairly quick.

Yes we agree that we need 4 central defenders and we also agree that we have 4 :emoticon-0115-inlov. How many strikers do you think we need? Do you really think 3 is enough?

We may have 4 that are warm and breathing but 1 that's decent - Osbourne.
Whereas we have 3 good strikers

I believe a new leader at the back is more important than a 4th striker.

    Night.

Apparently 500-600k is what Rotherham want for Agard... Seems like a no brainer! Go and get him city!

Can someone please explain why so many posters want this guy at Bristol City? Seems like he is just a regular player and with all due respect to Rotherham they are not exactly world class.

Would he really add strength to our squad or will he turn out like so many of his over hyped predecessors?

Well Mike Rotherham beat us twice last season and got promoted with Agard scoring 22 league goals in the process. Horses for courses I say. We did it when we signed Jevons to get out of the division. I personally think he would be a good back up option for our forward line

You're kidding right?..... he was literally one of the best players in this league last year. He's 24. Only scored 3 fewer than Baldock. If we signed him we should be over the moon! Can't see it though, he'll go to either Leeds or Wolves.

See what happens when you move across the pond, you lose all sense of reasoning because the names of the likes of him do not get in your face every day.

Thanks to you both I am now in the "let's bring him in" column.
