Good player now and would be a team leader.. he will have plenty of interest from lots of clubs though!

Difficult one this, as I rate him as a player and I'm sure he'd be an asset to most Championship clubs still. However, I'm not sure he'd be a great fit for us, in terms of our new policy of signing young players and possibly undermining Wilbraham as Captain - that may be an unfair assumption though. Besides which, I wouldn't be surprised to see him rock up at another Premier League side soon.

...also, I hate that stupid 'chicken tonight' celebration he does when he scores.

Not sure if he's that 'nasty' - just combative let's say. One of those that if you're playing against him you hate, but if he's on your side you love.

We absolutely need experience. It's one of the reasons why we were so **** under SOD and great under Cotterill last season. Experience is important, and Nolan has that in abundance.

Personally, I'd love to see him sign with us on a year deal, with an option for another. He'd be solid at this level, and while he wouldn't play every game he'd be a calming influence in a place where we absolutely need one in the absence of Wade Elliot. I'd go as far as to say that we should put some of that silly money we had for Ward and Gray towards his wages. Give in a low base pay, but boost him up based on performances, and pay him millions if he ends up getting us promoted.

I would of liked to see Barton play for us, yes he's a bit of a knob sometimes. The player he stubbed the cigar on was not exactly innocent in all of it, he tried to set fire to Barton's shirt just prior to the incident. Also did he stub or whack him back in retaliation with the cigar still in his hand?
He's a bit of a hot head and not afraid, but plenty of players lose their heads at times.

Kevin Nolan IMO would be a great signing for us for a season maybe two. Some say his legs are gone, but he can still do a job maybe not box to box but bit defensively.
His wages will be an issue, but Bourmouth got round that by big incentives in the signing process with lower wages.

Looks like Burnley are going to try and buy the league.

But with the stupid amount of money they'll have received for failing in the Prem last year you cant actually blame them, but you can blame any system that rewards failure with vast amounts of cash.

Parachute payments were invented to try and prevent the kind of situation that nearly did for us back in 1982.
I do think there needs to be a review so that any money available is used to buy up existing contracts etc, rather than allowing for a spree or bean feast with the wages.
On the other hand, if the club being relegated loses its stars, then it should be allowed to spend that amount of money on replacements. Don't forget, Burnley lost their best player when they went down (the same as we lost Gerry Gow).

Burnley and QPR are cash rich because of the payments they have received for failing to be good enough to stay in the Premiership but the sums offered are way too much. There has to be a degree of self management going on.

Any club that's been relegated from any division has to face facts that their best players may want to move on anyway. For those that wish to stay then clubs need to build a decrease in salary into their contracts rather than rely on TV monies. All it does is hand these clubs an unfair advantage.

    For not being good enough

I like Nolan - think he would be good off the pitch as well.

Wages would be an issue - however maybe he wants to play more?

Nolan would be a great signing - we need some experience in the middle.

As for parachute payments - once again, EPL f$cking everyone else.

'Burnley lost their best player when they went down (the same as we lost Gerry Gow)'

Losing the great Norman Hunter had an arguably even bigger impact.
When he arrived mid season we were bottom and Gow was playing in front of the likes of Merrick.
Hunter made an immediate impact and kept us up till the Summer he went back to Yorkshire.

    Remember it well RP
The best signing in the history of our club (although Gow was up there too)

Bad spelling there Tampa but you will be excused because you inserted the $ for the missing letter which was ironically appropriate. When you consider the money we were prepared to lash out on Gray or the other guy surely the money possibly spent on Nolan in the wage department could be a great investment. I don't think he would even give us a sideways glance but if he was presented with a good package that was well thought out for the mutual advantage of both parties - who knows?
