This is a sure possibility now Jim Stannard has left the club, and with the influence Kelvin has in/around the dressing room could this be a potential opening for him? He could still hold his playing registration in case of an emergency, but I think it's something he might want to do. I read not too far back a role for Kelvin will be there for him if/when he wants it. Thoughts?
I guess it's up to the new guy. He might have his own person lined up. I do wonder that if Adkins get a Championship job rather sharpish, for example Blackpool, whether or not he might take someone like Davis with him. Give him one last bite at first team football.
He may not have liked being dropped, but that all part of football. Doubt anyone didn't get on with Adkins. SKD must be one of players who knows this change is not going to be good for him.
How would Kelvin feel coaching the players who pushed him out of the team? How will they feel? Not sure, he's got a lot to offer I'm sure, but seems a bit too soon.
Seriously doubt this will happen now. Cortese clearly has no sentiment and very ambitious. SKD will feel less like sticking around after seeing Adkins fired.
True, but Jaidi is in some kind of international ambassadorial/development role for Saint and was (and probably is) still the best person to develop links in Africa. That move makes business sense. I'm sure if some hugely connected African footballer wanted Jaidi's job, Cortese would make the change in a second.
Yep I heard that, and that he had lost the dressing room from a person on the daily echo site. However I find that unlikely from the 2nd half at Chelsea unless the players weren't playing for Nigel but themselves
What concerns me is that we were living in a great bubble, almost too perfect. Now it's been burst, and reality has set in, does that break the multilateral thread of commitment all the players felt towards each other, the manager, and the club? A wake-up call and reminder that it's dog-eat-dog, and should West Ham offer Rickie a 50% salary rise in summer, why wouldn't he take it? He sure as hell knows (more than before) that the club won't be supporting him when his legs slow down. Something has broken, and a lot of them may feel as we do (assuming we stay up and it's a decision that isn't as black and white as move if we go down, or stay if we make it) and feel that summer is a good time to move.
It's not always the best players who make the best coaches. SKD may know what you should do without having the ability to do it. NA is a better coach than he was as a player. Same for Arsene Wenger. However, Hoddle was a great player, but not so good as a coach because he made other players feel less talented and small. Depends if the new manager is bringing his own GK coach (or hopefully a GK).
I think that's the real reason behind Adkins getting the boot - didn't get on with Chaplow. One of them had to go, and there was no way Cortese was going to let Chaplow off our books. True player power...
