Why don't you simply get the contracts of any new signings to stipulate that they must change their names by deed poll to that on an available shirt? No need to even touch the letters!

This was the subject of a battle between the manufacturers of said Jaffa cakes and the HMRC, who said that Jaffa cakes are biscuits, and thus liable to higher taxation. I believe that the court decided that it all depended what happened if you left the comestible in question out of it's packet. Cakes get harder, biscuits get softer, so a Jaffa cake is a cake. I have tried this experiment at home but the Jaffa cakes always seem to disappear when my kids get home from school, so I am afraid that I cannot confirm the courts assumptions were correct.
