Would you take him on a free as a squad player?

Yeah as long as the wages aren't extortionate. He has not yet hit his peak seems pretty decent

No for me, he's not good enough and I haven't seen any sign that makes me think that he will get better as he gets older.

I'd much rather we spent the summer buying first team players than "squad players". Do I think Kalou would be a great first team player? No not really. However as Bozz said if his wage demands were reasonable and with no transfer costs I guess I wouldn't complain too much if we did sign him. Surely though if he wants first team football guaranteed then he will go elsewhere.

    So we'd have two Downings?

Maybe new place, new approach but if Chelsea let his contract dwindle you have to ask why?

Kalou would be a squad player, in other words when everyones fit for a big game he wouldnt get in the team

We dont need squad players, we need guys who easily get in the fist 11 week after week, so then players like Downing and Henderson become squad players

Exactly - I feel that we have a good squad with good depth. But our first XI is lacking in that extra quality. Kalou will not add to that and will probaby command a big wage so I can't see the value in the deal. Kalou is 26 years old so he should be in or reaching his prime but his performances don't agree.

If we could get the likes of Sigurdsson and Ramirez along with a striker, then I would feel more confident. Diame would provide good cover or as a partner for Lucas. Diame and Sigurdsson for a combined fee of £6.8m - not bad business.

I dont agree with this. Kalou has been a regular for Chelsea this passed season, starting the Cup finals and scoring some important goals.

Rogers like to play a front 3. We have Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy and Downing atm. But Bellamy has fitness problems.

    -Kalou---------------Suarez-
    -----------Carroll--------------

    I like it.

I feel Kalou lacks the intelligence to be a good player. He will add a bit of pace to our team but I can't see him adding anything else.

Problem with our team is that most of our attacking players are one dimensional. Kuyt and Maxi were slow but intelligent. Downing and Henderson have a bit of pace and technique but lack the intelligence to use it to maximum effect. Carroll is a beast in the air but is technically limited (although he is showing signs of improvement).

The only effective attacking outlets we have are Suarez, Bellamy and Gerrard - and the latter two are injury prone and are unlikely to play 30+ games next season.

  14. I wouldn't like to see us spend money on him so absolutely not.

(if we wouldn't buy them, why take them on a free???)

If he hasn't hit is peak at 26, it is never going to happen, Gerrard was getting cup finals named after him at 26.

Judging by his agents talk, he is willing to join a club with no champion's league next season, and a new untried manager... Sounds a bit desperate to me, looking for a big payday more like.

Kalou Would snatch LFCs hands off if they offered it , think the only way we may be interested is if he is happy with low wages, and I suspect he wouldnt be

I would definitely give this 1 a miss

Alos IMO when u get agents blabbing in the papers it usually to advertise there player, cos there aint much interest as what they may have thought, and the reason there aint that much interest and the reason Chelski have let him go , is cos hes not that good

Its when you DONT see or hear from the agent, thats when the club is really interested in the player

It isnt in the clubs interest to have the players agent to be blabbing about his player in the media

To be fair to Kalou, he has won more medals than about 90% of our squad, including the big one we all want. Granted he was not always the starter he played his part in each of those seasons

Not saying I would want him, but there are worse options out there and the better ones can we get? If we can sign someone better then I say do that but if not then Kalou wouldn't be too bad. We shall see.

Again, not stating he is brilliant when most of the time he is not but it is not the worst option about.
