According to reports: While this is great news it begs a question about the Club's contract policy. I can understand us sticking with 1 year plus a possible 1 year option for the over 30s (although thankfully we are on occasion prepared to make exceptions; Hangeland and Riether being two). But for the youngsters, surely we should tying them to much longer deals??
A strange policy indeed. Maybe the agent advised a one year deal hoping a bigger club will come in for him. Personally I would extend the contract another 2 years.
Yes, sign him up for several years. It won't make it any less likely that we'll lose him if he keeps progressing, but it would help to ensure we get a proper transfer fee for him if and when the time comes.
