Seems it always comes back to the midfield to me, doesn't seem strong enough.
Hard to say untill we see them play of course and if they are willing to give 90+ then maybe a top 6 will happen.

Its a work in progress but heres my line up, a 4-5-1 to start with both Earnshaw and Parkin as impact subs, this allows us to be abit more flexible and less predicable.

    GK Marshall
    RB McNaughton (vc)
    CB Keinan / Hudson
    CB Gerrard
    LB Quinn / Taylor
    RW Conway
    CM Whitts
    CM ? Taylor
    CM Blake?
    LW Bellamy (c)
    CF Goodwillie

TBH, I dont rate Heaton or Marshall that highly so would love for us to finally nail this position but the real priority should be the midfield, we defo need an enforcer, think Blake could get his chance but I'm not totaly sure hes the answer. Olifinjana done OK for us last season, he was certainly better than the Rae McPhail partnership of the previous years. We could do with another 2 midfielders, but as to whos available, I dont have a clue as yet. Certainly feel we need a new approch to recruiting players, which seems to be happening with Malky and the players we've been linked to so far.

Boy oh boy, i've been quite fearful of late about our first team, but that looks quite nice on paper, and plenty of pace up front!

An obvious lack of depth which over the last few seasons has caused us no shortage of problems! Definitely an upbeat response from me though..

Still think a new goalee will be nice, good shot stopper in Heaton, but kicking can be erratic, and not confident enough at coming out from his line for corners.

Just the bench that looks weak really. Shows we need 5 more players to challenge our best 11. I am all for the 4-5-1 becoming 4-3-3 when we go forward....have been for about 2 seasons :) Think we had the squad for it last season.

Satisfied with a decent first XI ..........but shades of deja vu any injuries or suspensions and once again we would be knackered, the teams that have gone up recently have had strenght in depth, or incredible luck with injuries............and as Cardiff fans we know how our luck runs <ok>
