Why it's what I'd expect MoN to say even if we get a couple of new strikers in MoN would want Ji to fight for his place as I see him and Connor both in our long term plans (Ji more so) and he did have a good Olympics
Last year the South Korea coach reckon Ji was completely unfit, so if he is now as fit as he should be he may well be back to being the player we thought we had bought. Based on last season I would be pretty worried if he were to lead our line but I would be more than happy to be proved wrong. MON knows what he is doing so he must have seen something that he likes to make these statements.
Didn't see any Olympic footy TBH but from what I saw of Ji last season I'd say he's got no chance in the Premiership. I'm no MON however and I do hope I'm very very wrong.
The lad must have had a hell of a lot to contend with last year, what with the language barrier, different culture, style of play, not being able to put the nearest dog on the BBQ etc etc. Those South Koreans are no mugs, obviously there's Park who's now gone to QPR, and there is also the lad at Bolton who was looking excellent before injury plagued him last season. I agree I wouldn't be too chuffed if he was to be our no.1 striker, but I think we could expect a decent threat from Ji this season, given that he's more familiar in his surroundings, and coming to terms with language etc.
Ji was at reading for 1-2 years you know, pretty sure he would have picked up some lingo there, I doubt the language would have been a problem. The team doing crap in the early part of the season didnt help matters though.
He did better than any GB player at the Olympics, I would deffo give him a go, not as though we're over the top with quality strikers
Have you ever tried learning Korean? I am learning Japanese at the moment which has a similar structure and its not like learning French, Spanish or German. The language works is a completely different way to English. They don't even use a similar alphabet. He might be getting there now but last season would have been a real up hill struggle for him.
