WOW! Delighted with first clean sheet .... but the goals were f...ing excellent on a cold, wintry day at the Den. First half Lions were pretty static with the midfield sitting deep. In fact the crowd were laughing at some of the elementary mistakes in our back line in the first 15. ****tu, Dunney, Beevers, Fordey and Abdou all made errors that resulted in panic and corners. It all looked frail and weak. No one in the midfield or defence was covering themselves in glory - although our left side looked safer than the right and Lowry was beginning to stabilise things in his area. So all the action was in Lion's half and Lions could easily have been behind in first 15 - Beckford missed a clear cut chance as did others. General consensus was that it was becoming a nothing half and things could only improve. Then for the first time the midfield and front line came together. Things started to flow up front. The first goal was all Darius's work. He robbed a midfielder, ran down the left channel and placed it on Wood's toes. 1-0. Terriers came storming back and only Trotter's intervention saved a certain equaliser. It was still hard work and could Lions have a clean sheet at half time? - yes they could. Dunno what KJ said at half time - or whether it was the plastic ladder rungs the team had to jump between before the start of the second half. In fact it all started as it left off with Terriers having the possession. All the play was in the Lions half. An equaliser looked likely. Beckford had another chance and it was Jimmy 'Superman' - who could hardly do anything right in the first half - to the rescue when a goal looked certain for Town. And ****tu - growing in confidence - always there to deal with the danger looking more and more confident. Lowry was really in charge on the left now. Henry was getting more freedom and it was Henry, who was steadily improving during the game coming back from injury, who stormed down the flank and crossed again for Wood to put the finishing touches. 2-0....getting tasty but the best was to come with Henry's goal to make it 3. Suddenly the crowd is engaged and the players are growing in confidence. Now you didn't want to miss a touch and it's mesmerising stuff. There was still time for Hunt to be dismissed for moaning after being knocked over by DJ who almost scored. (He'd complained that Lynch was injured when Henry scored) Trotter (who looks so lazy and hapless at times) apparently miscued the ball to miss a good goal opportunity but then smacked it away for 4. Superb. We're dancing and singing..... and then its all over - 4-0 clean sheet - Good to be alive time! MoM - for me, it was Darius...but in the second half James and Danny ran him close. James doesn't know when to stop running and Danny is ...immense.
surprised you havnt mentioned Taylor according to the Radio he made some good darts down the line and was always willing to track back and help the defence ? comments,,,,,
Nice one digger. Why do we have to go through this every year? First 10-15 games **** then we get going.
Taylor was immense. Few times he had 1-touch passes between Hendo, Wood and himself not to mention the pressing football we displayed that was missing on Tuesday night. Well done KJ, totally deserved when we sung there's only one KJ
