Just back from a family outing at the small, but perfectly formed, Whadden Rd where a good display from Argyle resulted in 3 goals, three points and a return to the playoff places.

Despite a wet and arduous drive north we arrived by 1.15 , parked in the club car park for a fiver and wondered what do do next, but unlike Home Park, the turnstiles were already open so it was into the ground , a leisurely burger and chat pitchside before watching the warmup from pretty good seats behind the goal. Very close to the pitch and plenty of leg room.

Argyle played pretty well throughout, albeit the first half was fairly scrappy on another awful pitch. Cheltenham huffed and puffed but to be honest were poor and Luke was hardly troubled. McHugh went on a straight 60 yard run , passed to Reuben who finished clinically. 1-0. Second half more of the same but Argyle looked even more threatening and it was no surprise when Reuben made it 2 off a deflection. Cheltenham were clearly frustrated and series of meaty challenges by them led to yellow cards and to be fair , the ref did well to keep it at 11 aside. Zak Ansah came on towards the end and impressed and fully deserved his goal with a deft header into the corner.

Mentions in dispatches to Banton, B, Reid, Brunt, Nelson and the green army , who were there in numbers. The Robbins fans were the quietest I have every witnessed - destined for the conference I feel.

Now looking in a much stronger place in the table and it is in our own hands.
    Happy days.

    Thanks lyndhurst.

To answer your question on the other thread the booking for Brunt was for handball according to beeb match stats thingy. It's all I had to go on and the stats looked pretty convincing in Argyle's favour. Who would have given Hartlepool a prayer a couple of weeks ago and now they have not only clawed their way back but out of the relegation places. Cheltenham look to be on a one way trip as you said above. After today I want to see another convincing performance next Friday. Beat Burton, even if it is at home, and we could have the confidence to go on another run at the right time. Next two games are not the easiest we could have had.

Yes , for whatever reason (possibly the return of John Harbin) the team looked really positive and up for the fight. Clearly there have been many false dawns before but even a point against Burton would be a good one- I see Luton lost for the 7th game in a row, I suspect they are finished. H'pool is an amazing story and I hope they survive, although I hope Cheltenham do too, at least that is a relatively short drive!.

I really don't think Brunty handled it- he might be a bit of a carthorse but he put himself about and their defence were definitely worried about him- A useful player to have available.

A timely win yesterday raising the moral of players and fans alike......just in time for the Burton game on Good Friday.....thgat will be a difficult game at a difficult time as we go for a play-off place.......a win or a draw would be acceptable......a defeat could bring too much pressure for the home run.

How good was yesterdays win.....moral wise great.....but the question is how bad actually were Cheltenham......they do seem to be in free fall at the moment and with Harlepool getting some great results and with it momentum to keep out of the bottom two.....Cheltenham could be looking at Conference football next season.....it's not too long ago that they were one of the better teams in this Division.

What I'm suggesting is that we shouldn't get over confident about how good Argyle are....next Friday could bring us down to earth with a bang.

It promises to be a good game for a Bank holiday weekend......hopefully 10000 will come to cheer Argyle on....who knows what the outcome will be....lets hope Burton do us a favour by beating Stevenage tomorrow......and that Luton continue their free fall down the league.

Thought it might have been no points for Argyle yesterday as playing a struggling team lol! but fortunately dealt with it. Now knowing Argyle again will probably beat Burton the w/end. I believe their on an excellent run and due for a tumble. COYG.

God you are a worse pessimist than me Plym. 3 points away from home are good whoever you are playing and 3 - 0 is an emphatic scoreline. Of course the team occupying top spot are going to be a different proposition but Argyle can win that game because they have players who are good enough to do it. Will those players turn up is the one question because consistency isn't their middle name. It doesn't matter what other teams do us a favour or not, the rest of the season is in our own hands and if we do well we won't need anyone else to do anything on our behalf. Best ourcome on Monday will be that Stevenage kick lumps out of Burton and get a couple sent off in the process. Weasley can then whine and whine as usual not blaming his players for anything of course as it will be the Ref picking on him again. Two teams that can do us a favour in future matches if that's what we want or need might surprise. One is Exeter and the other is Hartlepool. The loss at Hartlepool doesn't look as bad as everyone thought it was right now does it.
