I do feel for him but when you buy a STRIKER you expect him to stick the ball in the back of the net every now and then, eh? I mean you wouldn't become a carpenter if you were allergic to wood?
Jozy lets you down and disappoints more than he pleases or plays a decent game. He could play worse than he does now, but score 3 or 4 goals and be supported. This isn't his first time in the Prem. He was a laughing stock last time then we spend £6m on him. Only at SAFC x
Surprised at this thread as the boo boys have quietened since he start showing form. The lads always have my back. I like his link up play and I think we can stay up without him scoring. I'm fine to wait till January for him but if he's not settled and scoring after a season and a half then He'll need to be replaced. That's nearly a year down the road though and anything can happen. In the meantime there's players need moving on first so happy to sit back and see how the situation develops.
WTF is this ****e, is it an essay for your school homework? Ain't read much of that like, maybe for his other **** performances mind.
I'm going to pick 3 words from your OP and tell you yo **** off "Liability Wes Brown" Anyone who has actually watched us this season more than once knows he is far from a liability Altidore has been pretty poor this season. Has had a few good touches and 2 good games but this doesn't make him a good player. Even Gareth Hall found a Sunderland player with one or 2 passes
He had a spell at Hull so he should know the English game and the Dutch league isn't that much different from ours, maybe pace? I think 25 games is a bit much to be waiting for someone to settle and in our position we can't afford to wait till next season for him to produce a few goals.
It's not just the games mate it's the time as well. Settling in the country, resetting his physique to suite the league (He's too top heavy with muscle), establishing a social circle and meeting people he trusts. These things take time not games and are important to his performance and well being. I think he deserve time to settle properly. Giroud is the perfect example why time should be allotted. Instead of chucking millions away every season writing off players after half a season which I think is mental personally. Not every player hits the ground running and it's impossible to say if they will before signing. That's a fact of football which requires fans to be patient.
If he was African or South American I could understand your argument but he's American and this isn't his first time in England or Europe. Look at Alonso, he's been here two minutes and already performing on the pitch, Gyan didn't do too badly either. I'm not trying to shoot the bloke down mate and I certainly don't sit and boo the guy from the terraces either, never have and i never will. I want the guy to do well but apart from two good performances he's done nowt all season. We're staring relegation down the throat and I would expect our strikers to grab a few goals, it's not much to ask is it?
Of course it's not mate, I agree with he's goal problem. Don't agree with him only having two decent games like, he's being playing his part in important goals all season. Like i said mate, some hit the ground running but some don't, we're all human beings and we're all different, should slow starters be discriminated in all walks of life? The US is a very different place to the UK as it's very different to Holland, different cultures can take time to adapt to, he hardly hit the ground running in Holland but was given the respect and time to sort it. He was young at Hull and probably looks back at his time there with pure horror and has probably hindered his return to English football and not helped like one would expect. We're not robots, I think the lad should be given a bit more empathy and time. You never know, with a bit of support and time he might come good and we actually get something for our money instead of writing off striker transfer after striker transfer.
I don't judge his time at hull because he was 18 & hull were **** pal. Altidore started poor in the Dutch league then get better so hopefully he will do it here.
American players like Friedel & Dempsey were **** in the first couple of seasons in the prem tho. plus Alonso had 3 year's at Bolton so thats why his playing well for us.
Think its a catch 22 situation. He's not the best running onto the ball but i can see the potential. He's working well with the team recently which is good as the confidence of the team has gone up. He hasn't exactly had a lot of time though not counting Di Canio's abysmal start as nothing was being created. Since Gus has been in it would be interesting to see how many appearances he's come on as a sub as he hasn't exactly been starting every game or finishing games which he started until this recent injury to Fletcher. However the question will be how long you are prepared to wait until you write him off (for him to get a good couple of games in a few games)
He looks like he has a lot of the attributes required to succeed in this league and he comes across as a nice bloke. 2 goals in 51 PL appearances is pretty shocking for a centre forward mind.
They both were!! I honestly think Jozy will be sold in the summer. I don't think he suits Gus's style of play. Not looked likely to score and the odd good touch isn't exactly what we need in our situation. Pity as I want him to succeed. Just can't see him being part of SAFC next season
