Clearly not wanted at Boro If we were after Gray, and Gayle, then there in no reason why we should not go for him. Yes his rumoured wages are never going to be paid by a championship side,so boro are going to struggle to sell him, really do not see a prem side going for him. Best bet for them is part wages being paid by a championship club. I hope the club have enquired about him.
Though obviously he would be a great signing for anyone in the Championship, it'd be hard to keep him and Kodjia and Abraham happy. Theoretically, there should be plenty of games for them all to feature, but in practise, if you're constantly rotating players, they won't be happy and arguably could disrupt their momentum. One of those clichéd 'nice problems to have', but considering the sizeable transfer fee and wages involved, I'd be extremely surprised to see it happen. I think it's much more likely we'll end up signing someone who is a back-up - possibly a younger player.
We have to remember that Abraham isn't ours Also need to consider that Agard is gone, Wilbs is nearly 100 years old, and Reid is only ever on the fringes. We need another striker certainly and quick. And that's without injuries and suspensions to the current strikers. Whether we have the ability to tempt someone like Rhodes to ever here over the likes of Wolves is another matter.
I'm not disputing that we could do with another striker, and obviously am aware Abraham isn't ours - all I'm saying is that I'm sceptical that we will now make a high profile signing that will be on the teamsheet ahead of Kodjia and/or Abraham. Regarding Tammy, I wouldn't be surprised if part of the agreement of him being here is that he plays somewhat regularly - which isn't an issue for us, given how talented he is. At the very least, we have the flexibility in our squad that we can operate with just a single striker - that's not an excuse not to get someone else in; just a reassurance as to our strength in depth.
The trouble is if Tammy or Kodjia are off form and need to be dropped/rested our options are very limited.
"we were after Gray, and Gayle, then there in no reason why we should not go for him" Deary me RR... You do remember how those targets panned out?
I do shiny but they may have learnt a bit from last time, and i think we are in a much better place this time around. The stadium, organisation, and team are a million miles from where they were last season. As long as we can do a deal with Boro would be a excellent signing.
I have doubts about going for Jordan Rhodes, a striker that will cost over 10 million. I think 'over hyped' is a fair point with him, considering what we could get for 10 million in the continental leagues. That is the sad-but-true aspect of buying British
I think this would be the only option to any championship side bar Norwich and Newcastle. Norwich are after a striker gut feeling is he will end up there and fire them back to the prem.
