I like keeping my eye on the youth products of Charlton and as I was just reading an article on Liverpool, and their multitude of midfielders, I was wondering what people thought about Shelveys chance of getting games under Rodgers is? Do you think he will be the new Sigurdsson for Rodgers, or will he get shipped out? Will he be a late impact sub, or will he be turned into the midfield master of passing?
He signed a new contract when Rodgers took over, and BR spoke highly of him. I think it's in both interests to loan him to a smaller premiership club. He proved with Blackpool he is a big player in that league, he now just needs experience in the top division.
I've heard Shelvey is going on loan to Swansea for the season as part of the Joe Allen deal, That would be a good move for him with Swansea being a good passing team
I think if Allen is signed, it's going to be a very interesting decision by Rodgers what he does with Jordan Henderson, who seriously doesn't look as if he's got a clue. When Shelvey extended his contract and said some very nice things about Rodgers' immediate impact there, I posted that he'd certainly get more game time than under Dalglish and I'm inclined to stick to that view.
I would love for him to get more game time. I think his good first touch and his vision would stand him in good stead with BR. It will be interesting to see whether they do start bringing him through more. I think playing with gerard and aquilani will give him some serious skills.
At last, a whole thread without reference to ostrich's, CL and absolute rubbish being spouted putting people off this site. I too like watching our youth players develop, and Shelvey is one I have paid attention to over the years only to be very happy that our club can develop such talent. Really will be interested to see what/ how he develops this season.
Shelvey is very much part of BR plans. He is having a terrific pre season and I do doubt that he is going anywhere. Watch him get sold to west ham now. Word on the street is that Liverpool stitched us up on the deal and cafc are seething. The lawyers messed up at our end and agreed an rather rash and uninforcible loan arrangement.
