Nathan Jones has once again repeated the falsehood tonight “we are so close to being a good side”. I’d love to be in Louis Mendez position when Jones says this. Mendez can’t come back at him & rip him to pieces, and risk losing his access within the club. Let’s look at how close we really are to being a “good side”. I don’t need Sqwarka, Fot Mob or Swiss Ramble for this bit. The facts say we have scored only 18 goals in 19 league games, and are worse off than the equivalent stage of the season when Appleton was sacked. “So close to being a good team” Let’s look at our pattern of play today and all season under Jones - AMB (poor distributor) gets the ball. Either kicks it long & we lose it, or rolls it to Gillesphey or Mitchell, who punt it 60 years up field and lose it, Never once do we move the ball on the deck, through defence to midfield to attack, Our midfield is bypassed in the air 70% of the time. When they do receive the ball, it’s a second contact / rebound, not a pass from a team mate. Docherty, Andersen, Berry, Campbell & Coventry much of a muchness. No pace, no runners, no dribblers, no forward passes, The above look out wide for a get out - but we have no width, no wingers, just an isolated T Campbell, or little Small who struggles to get up & down, The tall front three (why?) live off scraps at best, as a result of points 1,2 &3. Added to that, our dead balls (CC & TT) are dreadful, regularly failing to beat even the first man. Because of all of the above, we create next to nothing from open play, and need to rely on penalties or opposition gifts for goals = only 18 goals this season. That is Jones Manure Ball in a nutshell. Have I missed anything ?
I'm all for speaking positive in interviews, but when you start talking blatant rubbish then it is silly.
