If he left in Jan would we miss him? He contributes next to nothing now bar slowing down down our play to let lava catch up, Ferguson should start ahead of him every match, ready or not he offers so much more! I know he covers for Santon but this is to an extent, and that extent seems to get less with every passing depressing match! Does anyone else think the vice captain is starting to become a huge burden?

He doesn't even seem to be putting himself about as much as he used to.

Have to agree. Great team player for us in the past but offering very little this season. Fergie offers greater pace, better crossing and not so reckless in the tackle and is a better attacking option. Watching tonight convinced me he is now a squad player not a " purple player ".

Hes been one of the worst players for a long time now- when we attack he wants to win free kicks rather than beat his man, when we defend it interferes with other players business and we get too tight to play out of defence. If Pardew doesn't drop him we will never win another game.

I'd think he deserves dropping but Pardew wont he's an idiot!

Sam Allerdyce got his team playing less long balls - I think he needs some serious eye exams because he clearly thinks we are playing well.

Have always really rated Jonas for his attitude and immense work rate, but recently he has been lackluster and seems to hit the deck far more easily and far more often than he used too, and he did it alot before.
I have noticed that the refs are now waving him away more often when he goes looking for the free kicks, and he will also look to get the free kick rather than taking his man on.

I never thought l would say it, but, l have to agree that Jonas is not worth his place in the side ATM. If he cannot find some better form, then someone else needs to get the nod over him and soon.
For me he isn't Captain material either, just not influential enough to lead on the pitch.

He's not a purple and should be dropped. But Fergie isn't purple either so we need to buy a purple player for his position.

He has played poor, but a team is more than one player.

    Cannot fault his workrate though.

He did well when doing a defensive cover role last year but the rest of his game is diabolical and always has been. The only reason he got a place on the XI was because of his work rate. Now he can't do that he's even worse than he already was.

Credit where credit is due, he gave everything to us but his time is done but of course a bit part role is still there, like Shola.

Jonas has been a great servant to us and I'd like to think that if he wants to continue playing we'd at least let him go to a team where it would be less demanding for him. Maybe to a Championship club.

As much as I appreciate what he's done for us in the past, especially last season, he's finished. Sometimes it's looked as though we've been playing with 10 men this season, simply because his work rate has dropped so much, he rarely gets the ball, never beats his man, hardly ever makes a tackle, and when he does get it, either passes it straight to the opposition or tries to throw himself to the floor and win a free kick (which he is now getting less and less).

I don't think he's good enough to start for us on current form.
I also don't think Shane is good enough to start for us either.
Get somebody else a chance(NO, not you Sammy, you're ****e)

I think it also stems from just pure burnout, he's the one player who starts every game, never gets subbed, very rarely is he injured either. I think once we get a few players back he needs a month on the bench just purely to give the bloke a rest. I'd be surprised if he's missed more than 5 games for us in the last 3 years, and in that time he's also gone to a world cup.
