    Bad form from Alan.

Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has accused ex-boss Alan Pardew of telling him to look for a different club after beating testicular cancer.

The 30-year-old returned to action as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 reverse against Manchester United on Wednesday after 17 months on the sidelines.

Gutierrez, who moved to St James' Park from Mallorca in 2008, has hit out at Pardew - now in charge of Crystal Palace - in an interview with a Spanish paper.

"He told me to look for a team a moment after the second operation at the end of 2013," the Argentine told Marca.

"This hurt me a lot. You have to be more human and not look only at the football side and business.

Newcastle return to action at Everton next Sunday after a weekend off.

However, he is determined to force his way back into John Carver’s plans on merit – not sympathy.

He said: "I’ll continue to do my best in the training and work hard to get the minutes on the pitch I want. I’m going to fight for my place. You get opportunities in football, and you have to be ready to take them."

Although I think the odds are against him I would really like to see him succeed because he has one big thing going for him IE the right attitude

    Absolutely disgusting if true.

Even if Pards was doing what he was told from above, he could always have refused. Nobody forced him to deliver the message, he could have said it's immoral and so not doing it.

I'm not necessarily saying Jonas is good enough to be a starter (well, current player absences aside) but he is a good squad player and should never have been treated terribly.

    Pards should be ashamed.

Timing wise very poor. If down to Pardew which is questionable, then he could have handled it better. That said, cancer or not, it is a business and you have to take brutal decisions. The majority of fans were calling for him to go well before the cancer, that should not be viewed as a reason to keep him.

The club bent over backwards for Ben Arfa when he broke his leg, let him spend time recuperating in his home country etc. etc. Why do I get the feeling Jonas got different treatment because he was viewed as past it already? Shameful behaviour really.

I don't think there is any suggestion of lack of support. Its the callous nature of getting him out. Something the fans wanted so I struggle to now switch tack.

There's better ways to do it though. Run a guy's contract down, or tell him to find another club as he comes out of hospital.

Indeed like I say it is a bit callous. They did support him through his treatment though, as they did with both Raylor and HBA. The club has an excellent record in this regard (some would say too good) Once a club decides time is up, regardless of circumstance, they will cut you off. Hell some managers don't bother with players when they are injured!

I can see both the human angle and the business angle though.
