Massive credit to them for turning us around when Cotts got given the boot. 3 clean sheets in 4 games, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat. Thank you and great that they are staying on.
.... To stay on as LJs assistant. I thought he did really well - plugging the defence straight away - something I had been worried about for some time under SC. playing 4 at the back was a must to stop the leaks. Beating Boro and now Charlton, with a respectable (albeit frustrating) draw agains Brum and a freak defeat against the run of play agains Leeds - a team that the God of football has decreed we must never beat anyway. To be honest, I felt he hit the ground running and I personally would not have been terribly upset if he had been given until a bit longer to prove himself. I hope he and LJ can work together - if he gets pushed out it would be harsh. Thanks for stabilising the ship John - hope you and Lee together can carry on the good work you started.
Drat - duplicate thread. You can obviously type faster than me Tom because I did check there wasn't one before starting mine! Totally agree with what you say.
It happens all the time. that's why i open 2 tabs then keep refreshing one before I post to see if someone posts what I'm about to
Just read on OTIB that a few poster think that Pembo didn't actually want the job! So if true this could be a great appointment as I could not see any of these big named managers keeping Pembo. From how I read the statement is was sold as a package that you will keep Pembo and Wade, not a you can bring in your own team. This could be the reason some didn't want it and wanted to make their own decisions on who they work with.
my thoughts from a couple days ago! we have a good backroom staff player wise and the comments from the Barnsley board basically stated almost a like for like scenario ..but note we have gone back to coach as opposed to manager!!!!
Some of you have beaten me to it but I had to start the bolognese. I knew very little about Pemberton's input into the City coaching staff before Cotterill left. I believe it takes real courage to change the team shape and to bring into the squad as many Academy boys as he did immediately he took over. Should we stay up, LJ will get the credit but I for one now realise what gems we have at the club in John Pemberton and Wade Elliott. Thank you very much.
But surely with those two being factored into the negotiations could only mean that they felt SC didn't listen to them and maybe LJ could be the man to listen to their ideas. It's no coincidence that when SC left they changed things to make us hard to beat (with the same players at first) now some decent loanees and hopefully a good goal poacher could see us rise up the league. Listened to Lansdown and Ashton on BBC radio Bristol and they both state they want the club to have stability. Also didn't realise that Aston brought a few young managers through in the past. Lansdown admitted they was struggling with the football side of things hence why they bought Ashton into the club bit like Southamptons success was down to that type of role can't remember his name but something like Nicole Cortez.
