Actually, are you stupid? Even MOTD said it was a penalty. Enjoy...well, not much.

Barton doesn't have the right, you are echoing Pardew who on one hand said Gervinho couldn't raise his hands, while conveniently forgetting that Barton did it first.

Would you be happy if someone was annoyed with you for a judgement that he could not himself make so came up to you, grabbed you out of your seat by your top and started shaking you around whilst talking down to you and insulting you?

There is no need for that and Barton deserved to go. Just a shame that it is unlikely he will receive any punishment for it. The guy is a scumbag pure and simple.

No one seems to have looked at the reply. It was a foul and you lot should have had a pen. Bartons actions if they took place out side of a game would be assualt and with his previous he could now be locked up.

Arsenal are a bunch of cheating twats every game they fling themselves to the floor get your head out of your arses wake up and smell the coffee Wilshire is the dirtiest player in your team and is always making disgusting challenges two footed and fronting up to players when he's been fouled as if he is some kind of hardman. I'm glad Barton did what he did to Gervinho and I dont support Newcastle he should of did it to Song cos he is a coward of the highest order are you sure he wasn't in the riots cos he acted like them kicking people when they are down. I hope when Newcastle play at Emirates Barton smashes his big fat face in even if he does get sent off. Cheating gooners stop crying and man up your bunch wengers whingers. Noticed Wenger didn't notice the stamp surprise surprise

You can't raise your hands to someone's face. If it was simply 'you can't raise your hands' then you'd have more of a point. I'd rather something so minor wasn't a red card but this is the non-contact, aggresion-free game the PL has become. I agree Barton has been a cretinous individual in the past off the pitch and occasionally on it but I think he's cleaned up his act and is more of a pantomine villain nowadays capable of winding people up for the good of his team.

Perhaps Joey Barton should look to some of your 'legends' as an example of how to play the game such as Keown, Viera, Parlour.

  11. Hi Mifune

I don't get it. I thought what our players did to RvN wasn't very nice either.......

There was not much love lost between both sides back in those days and it culminated in our visit to Old Trafford in the autumn of 2004.

Song should have walked for a simply appaling and cowardly leg stamp on Barton, which of course was to get him riled up and sent off for a possible reaction, as everyone knows Barton is our main driving force whilst also being our player with the shortest temper.

As for Gervinho I think its pretty evident that hes a talented player (though seemingly lacking end product) but he also seems to me very much like a cheat, he dived in an earlier incident with Ryan Taylor where Taylor went for him but didnt touch him at all and Gervinho went down like a ton of bricks and won the free kick, cheating bar steward, then for me, the penalty was very soft, clearly looking for it, which to be fair a lot of players would do, not just Gervinho, and wouldn't have been so annoying if it wasnt for the earlier incident with Ryan Taylor.

As for Barton dragging him up, it certainly was stupid and I dont condone it but its not a red card offence, he merely grabbed his shirt, which in my book is worthy of a definite yellow card Gervinho was the one who became violent and stood up abruptly and went for Barton with his little bitch slaps.

Song's leg stamp should be investigated by the FA and hopefully the appropriate action should be taken, minimum 3 match ban.

Barton deserved his yellow card and nothing more.

Gervinho deserved his sending off for raising his hands and making contact with Barton, if he hadnt touched him I would say a yellow card for both would have sufficed.

And as for Barton going down easily...why not? Hands have been raised and he wants the ref to realise that, whether he goes down or not the outcome should have been the same and thats a sending off.

Looking forward to the return fixture at the emirates, which will hopefully result in us being victorious for the second season in a row ;)

Good luck for the rest of the season boys <ok>

Arsenal treated Barton horribly yesterday. They bullied him because they wanted him sent off. It was bad sports man ship and it deservedly back fired with Gervinho's red card. Song should have been sent off and Arsenal should receive a warning from the FA. You should be ashamed of what your players did, if Barton is a discrace then Arsenal brought total shame on English football.

Hi RvB, it was not meant for much, I am just getting annoyed at this Joey Barton witch hunt going on everywhere and other fans acting like their own clubs are perfectly behaved. Some of your big players acted very badly that day, Man U players acted very badly in that match in 04 when they decided they could not beat you so will kick you off the park. All clubs have many examples of behaving badly but when it is Barton it is always escalated to hysterical proportions even though in my humble opinion he did not do much wrong yesterday and was more the victim.

Anyhow neither side played that well yesterday and a draw was probably a fair result, hopefully it is onwards and upwards for both clubs from now on.

  15. Ah right I see what you mean.

I think it's best that I don't revive the Barton debate. I imagine this is one of the discussions that could go on for an eternity. However I do think that football should get back to being a sport and all participants in it actually treat it that way.
