    Barton Itching for new season

    Good to see, seemed to be genuinely relishing the first two games against Arsenal and Sunderland. Whoever we sign he should be the first name on the team sheet, he makes the side tick and always gives 100% inspiring those around him to raise their level.

    His leadership is invaluable, we saw what difference it made against Sunderland and Arsenal last season, two good sides (extremely good in Arsenal's case) who lack leadership and we were able to take four points from each of them. He brings more to the table than that, technically very good and able to control games. Give him a contract Ashley.

    Wonder if Pardew can fit Barton and Cabaye in the same team? Hope he stays though, was probably our best player last season.

    I don't know, he acted like a bit of a dick when he had it against Villa. Seems like the obvious choice to wear it as long as he doesn't let it affect his game.

    Yeah he did a bit, but it gives him more of a push to stay I think. He's defiantly earned it, and I seriously can't see anyone else wearing it! Harper maybe?

    Villa was his first game as captain, and your right, he did just use it as an excuse to whinge at the ref, but he captainted several times after that and was very good.

    He would fit in a 4-1-2-2-1 formation with Tiote DM and Barton and Cabaye CMs. Then Marveuox and Jonas and Barnetta and Ben Arfa Wingers - Barnetta and Ben Arfa priorities when it comes to picking them, and Ba or Erding Strikers. If Jonas leaves, bring in the Zog

    Want him to stay and be given a 3 year extension, cant see any of it happening though, I reckon he will go to Everton or Villa.

    Wouldnt want Harper as captain, dont think keepers can give the moral boost that an outfield player could when were in a tough spot

    He said "y'know" exactly 20 times in that interview. That's a "y'know" every 6 seconds.

    I just used my fingers while I was listening to him talk.

    So, not as sad as using a pencil and pad, but close.
