Right foot left foot, beating his man playing it short, starting to appear like the itk are bang on. when O'driscoll talks about a Bristol City way that hopefully was it.
That is the way he wants his teams to play he wants his players to make decisions on the pitch to think about what things they can and can not try at various times there will be mistakes made sure but the team is still young and learning.
It's a team game but this lad looked the most rounded player on the pitch. If he can continue in this vein will be part of the XI as long as he wants to be.
Most impressive thing is he doesn't seem like a complete tit off the field, posting stupid twitter pictures, getting tattoos on his head or any other stupid things young modern footballers do these days I'd say he has to be one of the first on the team sheet along with jet and baldock
That's part of what I meant by those close to the club in the know. He is meant to be a level headed lad. Fingers crossed that everything else being said about his ability reaches his potential. People talk about him in glowing terms. Lets, all hope he keeps his head down and gets on with what is important.
Looks to be quite an articulate, intelligent lad, if his interview on you tube is anything to go by, My question would by why was he loaned out and not played in the past we could have lost him? but hey that was in the past and together with Bobby Reid and hopefully other youngsters coming through should bode well for the future of the club.
I really think we were right to loan him out especially last season when the team had no fight he went to Plymouth who were in their own battle against relegation but their players were sweating blood to stay in the league so I think he learned a lot from that more than he would have learned playing with the useless shower that played when they felt like it last season. In fact I would say that last year the team only played well or tried at least when Carey and Stead were in or around the team whenever those two were injured it looked like most of the team just couldn't be arsed how they played or what the result was.
What I like about him is like RP said, good in the air for a little un, he's not afraid to tackle. But I like his crossing of the ball he plays it areas that forwards should be in. Wasn't it Beckham that taught Walcott to play the ball where they should be not to look to find them, once you play it there they will learn where you're going to put it. Hopefully this injury he got last night, don't keep him out for a while, because him and Bobbie Reid looked really good last night. Funny ain't it both short arses, but can head the ball better than Jet and he's a monster.
Makes you wonder who we are going to leave out. Wynter looks solid in front of the back 4, as does Pack with his range of passing. Then again, there is the irreplaceable JET, who surely must be the first 2 places on every team sheet. Reid is a skilled link man and box to box player, Bryan is full of potential, and Wagstaff is an instinctive finisher and scorer of fine goals. We also have Elliott in the wings, plus Kelly, arguably our best young player, to return from injury. Our midfield options are becoming powerful.
Joe looked like a class act the first time I ever saw him play against Leicester. Came in to do a specific job, kept it simple but looked good in the process and always seemed to have time on the ball (always a sign of quality) yet amazingly, some were unimpressed. IMHO, Joe has the complete game and if he continues to learn and improve, he will go a lot higher than league One in his career, hopefully with us...
Being of an age where I have watched four decades of BCFC's football I don't go overboard about players e.g Emmanuelle Thomas, Adomah, Maynard etc. What I would say is that it is rare to see English players with such a broad range of skills at that age. His adaptability and real ability should see him now as one of the first on the team sheet, or I hope it will
Out of the squad Bryan is the one alongside Carey I would like to see training my sons kids team. Here is the ball we have two feet and we use them to control the ball and one touch, two touch pass.
I'm convinced that if we had not been fighting relegation for the last two seasons, Joe Bryan would have started at least 50% of our games. He is quality.
