It's gone already, apparently <naehangingaround> Check out how scary it was <shudder> please log in to view this image http://news.stv.tv/scotland/193141-...from-glasgow-leisure-centre-over-rape-claims/ For further reading, I'd recommend Grace Dent's column in the Independent (I feel dirty just typing that) - I don't agree with her but she puts her argument forward fairly well and it leads to the question that "will rock and roll heroes of the 60s and 70s be viewed as anti-heroes in the future?" (she doesn't precisely say that, I did) Will Jimmy Page be viewed as a hero now his romance with a 14 year old is viewed so differently and... ...the reporting of the Bill Wyman/Mandy Smith stuff in the eighties - "wild child" Imagine that happened now.
I didn't even know it was in Scotstoun Leisure Centre. And why was it there in the first place Up the 'RA.
Probably on the basis of his charity work somewhere along the line. Why it was originally in Pollok Park as well is a mystery??!??
I've been to Scotstoun tons of times and never seen it Just read some stuff about him online, raping a 16 year old girl and she got pregnant. **** sake.
Google the Grace Dent article - compare how he, Glitter, Jimmy Page and every rock star and DJ of the age basically did the same and then compare that with the reporting of the 15 year old running away with the teacher. I mean the Mandy Smith stuff (she was 13) was in the NOTW and that at the time and, although they disapproved overall, it was tittilatingly covered. There was a report I read where someone saw Savile with a lassie in his dressing room getting his freak on and Gary Glitter was on a chair with another wee lassie at the same time Also, I put a link up the other day for a blog from a few years ago that suggests that Savile was a sort of underage Janie Jones for anyone that liked 'em young and it went right up to Ted Heath who was PM at the time. The late 20th Century's popular culture is about to be viewed entirely differently, I reckon.
I remember the Mandy Smith stuff. The other stuff you mention, I'll be honest, I don't research that kind of stuff. As interesting as it is, it sickens me. Did you see that the court refused to bankrupt Whyte?
Grace Dent does my chebs right in and I disagree with a few things in this article (particularly in a semantic sense as someone isn't a *****phile unless the victim is under 13) but she puts her point across pretty well for once. It was normal for girls in my school to be picked up by boyfriends in their 20s, for instance. There's either been a large scale re-evaluating of childhood or a large shift in the larger morality consciousness in the past 20 years. Her assertion about a 42 yr old man going out with a 17 yr old, for example, may well be the zeitgeistical position just now or, if not, will become so within a few years. Even in the nineties, a man in his forties knobbing a 17 yr old would've been viewed as something to aspire to. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...asily-remembering-past-conquests-8194583.html
Mammaquatia (MAM-uh-KWAY-shee-uh) - The bobbing or jiggling of a woman's breasts when she walks, dances, or exercise
****ing hell you'll be telling us George Michael is gay next Club Tropicana In all seriousness I think your spot on and **** load of people will be shocked as celeb after celeb is outed. Dirty ****s that they are.
Seriously, though. Groupie paps them out and offers Keith Richards a gammy. Was Keith's first response to ask her date of birth? Was it ****. His first thought was how far down her throat it would go.
Some of these comments are disgraceful. Joking about child abuse. You lot should be ashamed He's not even here to defend himself. Sound familiar? please log in to view this image
It was Wyman that went out with and married Mandy Smith. I was using Keef as an example - if you were in a band in the sixties and seventies, you podgered everything that moved. It's not just rock stars either - Big Phil met Lizzie Windsor when she was 13 (poked), Elvis met Priscilla when she was 14 (donged) and Polanski knobbed a 14 year old (boabied) as well as Mohammed marrying Aisha when she was 11 or 12 or something (divine dobbered). Even in the nineties, it was rumoured that Evan Dando pumped Bijou Phillips when she was 14. There's been a dramatic re-think in how people view teenage girls in the last twenty years or so.
You can say that again Fair play to Bill, at least he got to pump her rotten before she turned 16 and lost her looks
It is amazing how the tabloids have changed their tune. Mandy Smith was the most famous "wild child" but I seem to recall hardly a day going by in the mid 80s without a scantily clad, under age of consent teenager being splashed over the front pages. It's really very disturbing thinking back to it now. Mind, i would have been the same age and therefore don't have to feel guilty about cracking one off over their images now and again.
