JET on Soccer AM: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/tv-shows/soccer-am/9842619/jet-talks-future-plans Came across well I thought
I just think he is a real gent but I think his head is else where and Cott's knows it, we gave him a contract, he fulfilled it, so did we, now it's time to say goodbye, GOODBYE.. I trust our manager, first time in a while..
For the record, I think we should have kept him, however, more than happy to trust SC judgement. JET is, and I guess always be the type of player to divide opinions, how many times has it been debated on this site if he should be in the team or not, and here we are now debating wether he should have stayed or not!!!
Hmmm.. I have said myself before that he doesn't contribute enough work rate, but hell, he was entertaining and he definitely made things happen.. The Championship isn't all about crash bang wallop, A player like JET MAY thrive there ?? Its the bit of guile that he had, we are gonna miss him, I'm sure of it..
We probably need 2 forwards now? Matt Smith and a goal scoring forward (like Joe Garner who has 1 year left on his contract?)
Garner has done well at PNE despite a lengthy absence through injury and appears to be a natural goalscorer. Whether he could be a force in the Championship remains to be seen, whoever he plays for.
I wasn't a huge fan of JET in his first year with us. The way he presented himself on Twitter made you think he was Cristiano Ronaldo, when in reality his inconsistent form makes him a League 1 quality player. However, some tough love from Cotts turned him into a legitimate threat. He was definitely a luxury player, but one that would produce some magic when needed. I can only assume that the wages he'd want were more than we were willing to pay. I too watched him on Soccer AM (boy, has that programme gone to **** over the years...) and he seemed like a top bloke.
Tough love nonsense. Simple case of being allowed to play deeper v pushed up and concentrate on what he was good at, rather than attempting a role he could barely do adequately. As for luxury. Goals and assists per minutes ratio was above any other player, well above. Had the pleasure of meeting him at Ashton Gate with kids team. Out of every player there he had the most time for the kids.
