Irrespective of the time it was said (and he has said similar things on several occasions including this season), I find your (and subsequent posters) interpretation of the comment below surprising: "That would be like winning the championship — that's the maximum for us when you look at the seven clubs above. "We can say now that we will probably end up first or second in what I would call our league. " Football is about opinions and I'm sure we will differ. I'm a great ML fan but on this issue I think he is wrong, but hey ho, that's sport.
Here you go suckers - http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/10719631.Laudrup_says_eighth_is_the_limit_for_Saints_and_Swansea/
Laudrup's stupid statements can only be seen one way, and that is as a defeatist attitude, and Huw Jenkins was right on the money to question this ethos from him, as did many Saints fans when they were implicated in his negative view point, matter of fact when you read the comments in that article regarding Laudrup, most are perplexed by such comments and some even laughing at such lack of ambition. Of course there will always be those supporters who are clouded by his almost god like status, and will try and attempt to interpret a positive on his nonsense!............
Well that's pretty obvious but.... This is something he simply has never said. He has on numerous occasions talked about there being an elite 7 at the top and our only hope at the moment is to be the best of the rest. I do agree that this is a defeatist way of thinking and I wish he would just stop saying it but nevertheless he's right.
Again a fragment of a much longer statement slapped in a post without context .... are you applying for a job in the news media
The second article is October 2013 when we played Southampton (even the Southampton fans picked up on it). I have given you two direct examples of when Laudrup has allured to a split in the division, and he has said it on more occasions than that. You have implied that I am unintelligent, but from your comments I can only assume that you are sticking your head in the sand.
I remember Swansea City in the old Premier League, Division 1, at the top spot for many many weeks, think we finished 6th that year due to injury, but it can be done, and if you take the prize away from the competition what's the point of trying? Where did we finish last season? and where could we have finished if our boys hadn't downed tools after the League Cup win? Sorry but as a manager Laudrup should not have stated what he did, stupid remarks in my view!............
I remember the first season in the old Div 1 too, and the next season it started to slip down the ****ter, because the quality of management and players were not in place. If you want to ignore a ton of context, ascribe evil to honesty, ignore results and circumstances in order to fabricate cause and effect, and strive to denigrate for the sake of it then knock yourselves out. You fool only yourselves. But really, haven't you got much better things to do.
Laudrup vs Jenkins , if I only had one muzzle and I had to use it , it would go on Huw I'm afraid . Love them both but Laudrups' talking theory with football , Huw is indirectly talking **** about our manager between the lines . First time I've seen a chink in Jenkins's chairman armor .
