I don't know if anyone has already posted this, but in the BBC Football Gossip section, it says Rangers and Newcastle are coming in for Puncheon. I would be sad to see him go, as he is a good player, but his ego is bigger than the rest of the team put together, so it might be best if he went. Thoughts?
I agree, I really think Puncheon has a big future ahead, it is just a shame he did not fit in here. I think people really got on his back rather quickly.
The sooner he goes the better. We might be able to get a replacement who values his football and who's ego doesn't have its own gravitational pull.
Thing is with punch is he has a huge amount of potential and it's a shame that he never fitted in an to be fair chambo played the rm better than punch. Think that the problem is that with the high potential that he has came alot of attitude issues and with nige even coming out and saying he doesn't want him around and different instances which just showed off that he doesn't fit in with the whole 'it's not about the 11' mentality. So although I do agree that he is a good player with plenty of potential for the future I think that the costs outweigh the benefits and I think that with his good performances for millwall and Blackpool his value can only I've increased?
I agree. Should be looking at around £2 million plus. If maynard is worth £4 million and the likes of CMS £3 million, Puncheon is no better or worse than both of those.
I'd accept £100k if that was the only offer on the table. He may be talented, but that's useless to us when he's alienated himself to the extent that Adkins doesn't want him being part of the team. We take what we can get and run for it. We're lucky we can be expecting as much as we are quite frankly.
If punch goes to Newcastle we should do a straight swop for their winger Lua Lua, not only would we get a good very player but it would really pi55 off that little team the other side of Poopey.
He's OK, but he was far too inconsistent for my liking. I also thought he was a greedy/stupid player, who could often not see/decided not to take the option that was best for the team. Yes every so often he would do something that led to a goal, but overall he was an incredibly frustrating player to watch. He also decided pretty quickly he was better than Southampton, so he can **** off for all I care. Still hope we get at least £1 million for him though considering he had two good loan spells last season.
That would p*ss the off beyond belief. They have been going on about him for ages saying how good he is ans how he is signing for Brighton. Would love to see him sign for us.
I suppose Pardew doesn't know just how bad his ego is, because he was always first choice under him. It's only since Adkins that Chamberlain came in front of him. Or am i being stupid?
especially as punch is the only with prem experience and goals to his name and was actually ok for blackpool even though they went down
Thought Puncheon was ok and that people got on his back too much, but I don't know whether that happened before or after he developed his attitude problem. He must have something because other teams want him, but he's wrong for us. Let's hope we get a reasonable price for him and that, for his own sake, he knuckles down at his new team.
I'd happily drive him up there myself, whilst calling him a c*nt when he gets out the car at St James' Park.
I don't mind too much when players try hard, but simply aren't that good. It really pees me off when obviously talented players let their egos overtake them and they start believing they don't need to try. It's ****s like Puncheon who give footballers a bad name.
Like Paul Wotton really. He was a crap footballer but you could never question his desire and willingness to put 100% in. I'd rather have Wotton in the team than Puncheon any day.;
