This, we need someone to keep Kane on his toes and be also capable of doing the job when Kane is absent. Not sure about Berahino after seeing that shockingly lame header yesterday, of course it could be that his heart is no longer in it at WBA and he is just waiting for a move, I`m sure we wouldnt have bid if we didnt think he is good enough, it will be interesting to see if we go back in January.

  2. I am certain that Berahino hasn't recovered his spirits after being let down, at the beginning of the season, by the WBA chairman. It seemed clear enough, at the time, that the lad had been promised a move to Spurs, but that the Chairman probably didn't make it clear enough that he'd only be going if he got his asking price from Levy. The lad still hasn't signed a new contract, which is as clear an indication as you'll ever need that he won't be staying beyond the Summer. I cannot imagine that WBA will be prepared to let him get into the last year of his contract - which will happen in the Summer - so a January-move looks almost certain.

We'll do the same **** again though by going in with pathetic bid after pathetic bid (lower than before as less contract of course) and then on Jan 31st Jezza will blow a fuse and we'll have to risk nobody else coming in for him in the summer

I manage a Sunday league team so I've always got a few spare cones banging around the house.

Having Fazio standing stationary on our pitch will also help the lads with the no kicking over head height rule as he's f'ing tall.

I still think we're over-reliant on Eriksen and Kane for goals and creativity. For me I think we have to try to do better than Chadli, Lamela, Dembele in that group of three behind Kane. Maybe we already have that in Son but if Kane gets injured then he's our striker isn't he? For me, though, it's only worth getting a player who is a clear upgrade on those players I mentioned. Perhaps Hazard will be attracted by the prospect of CL football?

Perhaps another player, like Son, who can play either in the advanced midfield 3 or as a striker.

Of course Fazio needs to go and an actual footballer brought in too.

What striker to sign is still as fraught a question as it was. It would be black comedy if the response was a rehash of this summer: a series of failed bids for Berahino. The problem is that getting a decent veteran isn't attractive to Levy. I would say we damned well better get one in case we can't get anything better (a Ricky Lambert type, I’d say), but I do see his point. Do we actually know that anyone we get would be better than Son in a front four of Son, Eriksen, Lamela and Dembélé? I’m not sure we do. If it’s close, then it’s much better to give more time to a player who’s going to remain one of our core attackers, especially when he may have lost his place at the moment after looking like our best player pre-injury. Mousa Dembélé is as good a non-Berahino choice as any, as far as I know, and maybe after him Moussa Dembélé, who after all started his career as a striker. My next choice would be to move Moussa Dembélé to DM, and let Dier start up front. Surely he’d do well there eventually, even if it took him a game or two to settle.

Eric Dier can play anywhere and do anything, he'd probably be better than Kane up front to be honest but for now, I'll keep him at DM unless Harry gets injured.

Someone who's caught my eye in recent months is Sebastian Haller of FC Utrecht. I'm a keen follower of the Eredivisie and although Ajax is often the reason I watch an Eredivisie game, I've kept an eye on the young Frenchman at Utrecht. He joined them on loan last season and smashed goals in for fun, something like 10 in 15 games and then signed permanently at the start of this season (so may be hard to prize away so soon, though anything can happen) and has started where he left off, scoring about 8 goals already. Eredivisie strikers can always be a gamble, you'll get an Afonso Alves for every van Nistlerooy but Pelle has proved in recent times that the switch from The Netherlands to England is doable. He's only 21 and is 6ft 2 so would sort of be a similar direct competitor for Kane in terms of build and style, which can have it's pros and cons depending on what way you look at it and like any young promising French striker, has been dubbed the new Thierry Henry. If the club feel Berahino is a lost cause now and don't want to take the risk on Charlie Austin then I reckon this lad would be a worthwhile buy even if he did only join Utrecht on a perm at the start of the season, they'd sell for a decent price I'm sure.

OR a final alternative would be to promote Harrison, he's having a good season with the U-21s and had a good one with the U-18s last year, has been training in around the first team plus got to train with the senior England squad yesterday with Winks so he may well be the next to step up soon anyway. I found this article on him a few days back which also further suggests he's possibly the next one to step up - albeit they reckon in a season or two: http://hotspurhq.com/2015/11/01/tot...rospect-shayon-harrison-is-making-some-noise/

A part of the article mentions his stats -
    • 2013-14: 12 goals in 22 appearances | U-18 BPL (first season)
    • 2014-15: 15 goals in 18 appearances | U-18 BPL (finished as the top scorer)
    • 2014-15: 1 goal in 7 appearances | U-21 BPL (used sporadically)
    • 2015-16: 4 goals in 8 appearances | U-21 BPL (season is still on-going)
Not bad at all if you ask me.

Good call on Haller he's looking an absolute handful already. But as you said would be very expensive given that it's January and we're a TV money club and they just signed him.

Also, his left foot seems to be of no use to him other than balance. A bit like a reversed Lamela.

I think a team like Utrecht would bite our hand off for circa £8m, which would represent good value both for them and us, they make a huge profit (signed him for less than a mil I think) and we sign what will hopefully be great competition for Kane and who'll increase his value as he improves with time.

He could have no left foot/ two left feet/ or score goals with his cock for all I care mate, as long as he actually scores I'm happy <laugh>

True. Just watched the obligatory YouTude highlights reel. I have to say, he reminds me a lot of Adebayor!

If he does score goals with his cock, we’re certainly the club for him. Though our cock tends to celebrate goals more than he scores them.

The Tottenham Cock's Cock scorer cocks it again with yet another sublime cocking goal.

Now I can understand why our defence so regularly cocks it up. It's all about brand consistency...

Looks like Vejlkovic will be off then...

The part I don't get is where it mentions him remaining in the youth team instead of being in the first team or loaned out - not only was he loaned out twice last season ,and he presumably would've got playing time at Charlton if his season wasn't cut short due to a dislocated shoulder, but during the summer his proposed loan to Sporting Gijon fell through for unspecified reasons.
