Jamie Turley could become a Bristol Rovers player by the end of the week, if medical reports on a broken arm he sustained over the summer come back all-clear. Rovers boss Darrell Clarke confirmed last week that talks had taken place with the former Forest Green Rovers central defender over a possible move to the Memorial Stadium. The manager added yesterday morning that a decision is likely to be made later this week after a full-scale medical assessment is completed to determine how long he is likely to be sidelined for by the injury. Clarke said: "Jamie was scheduled to see a physio on yesterday morning and he is having a x-ray Today and then our own club doctor will have a look at him. I'll make a decison on whether or not to offer him terms after that." Turley is one of two players that Clarke said he would ideally like to add to his squad by the "back-end" of this week.
i presume if turley signs that will be the end if mitchell's trial. i think we will still sign higgins. it will be crazy not to based on what i have heard from those who have watch him in pre season. then we need another striker in my eyes. preston will be our back up keeper. i think we will get an emergency loan keeper if something happens to mildenhall in the season. so 3 signings needed: higgins mitchell or turley striker
Just hope that the potential new man Turley has recovered properly as over the past 5/6 seasons to many injury prone and non fit and never able to get fit dreamers signed by Rovers and their non asperational managers. You'd have thought that we'd have learned from past experience given our current status, if you keep doing the same thing expect the same result ! If he's 100% fit and committed welcome on board if not don't take any bloody chances DC If they sign they are expected to be fit enough to play, not taking the money wrapped in cotton wool. FIOFO or better still don't even consider players that just might eventually get fit, we ain't in a position of having the luxury of time on our side in which to re gain proper League status. Every season that passes with us as also runs see's todays kids turning to support the Filth.
turleys injury was his arm so i cant see it being too much of a problem if you know what i mean. its not like its a broken foot/ankle/leg etc. clarke seems to like the 3 CB's and using wing backs. if thats the case then 4 CB's may not be enough. playing with 3 CB's will mean we will need at least 5 CB's in the squad. parkes, mcchrystal, lockyer, turley & maybe we keep mitchell as well?? turley is suppose to be the best CB in this league. so him along side mcchrystal and parkes would be my choice. lockyer can be used as cover along with mitchell. lockyer can also be cover for CM too so if he is needed at CM then mitchell would be the main cover then for CB. brown and leadbitter be the wing backs and keep i say keep higgins as cover for the wing back role. lockyer can also cover as wing back too.
I like Higgins and I think he would make a tidy RB for us both I don't think he has the physical ability or pace to be a wing back.
Rovers medical team due to meet with Jamie Turley on Friday. Clarke was asked about the results of Xray but didn't answer the question. Obviously keeping cards close to his chest not allowing his knowledge of the results to be out in public where other clubs may jump in to offer him a deal.
"personal terms have been agreed"..... so he has signed then subject to the specialist report. thats good news then so no other clubs should be able to hijack the deal. i noticed it has been discussed elsewhere that city have admired him for a while and some fans have been very keen on him signing for them http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/154471-jamie-turley/
