In contrast to Adel's performance what passion and commitment Jamie Mackie showed in the second half today. Adel may have a greater natural ability and talent, but someone like Mackie more than makes up for that with his enthusiasm, hard work, never say die attitude and obvious willingness to give 110% whenever he gets the chance to wear our beloved blue and white hoops. I'm not writing Adel off either, but he should take note of Mackie's performance and work ethic and try and emulate that over the next few games.

Mackie reminds me a bit of Kuyt. You know he won't score loads of goals but he will give 150% effort every game. Its interesting to watch how many games Kuyt gets for Liverpool. Benitez always said he was the first name on his team sheet every week. Daglish plays him a fair bit as well. Players like that are invaluable. Their effort and enthuasism will rub off on those around them. I think Mackie deserves a run of games to show what he can do. Adel is not finished at all, but unless he increases his workrate in the coming weeks and months he should warm the bench.

Seems like Kuyt scores more than Mackie to me though, and has better skill. We need players to give everything though, no doubt.

I was not around much first half of last season so haven't seen too much of Mackie. He certainly looks energetic and a nuisance, but do you guys who have seen more of him think that he will take/make chances at the top-level? On yesterday's showing we should persevere with him, Betty and HH for a bit.

Mackie was a huge shock to us all last season the way he started, scoring so many for fun. But then he dried up and only scored one more before becoming injured. But I didn't think that Mackie would be any good at all in the Premiership. He reminds me of a Great Dane puppy, bounding along with bundles of energy but not an ounce of co-ordination.

But after yesterday I'm starting to wonder if Mackie is one of those rare players who can learn and raise their game to whatever level they play at. We all know about his energy and commitment, but now he's even starting to show some signs of real skill and foresight. I really hope he continues to develop along these lines. I just hope we don't over use him so soon after coming back from such a long lay of.

You have to love Jamie he gives 150% runs for fun and covers about 4 times the ground that Adel covers, give him a run in the side and his ethusium may rub off on one or two more.

I think he played very, very well against TH, with very good passing vision, and stripping Parker for pace quite a few times. If only he had gotten a boot to that chance, with the TH defence scrabbling, would ahve been 2-2

I'm a big fan!! I'd like him to play in the centre of the middle 3 behind HH so that he can "feed" off him. Could work?

He has raised his game every opportunity. He was so pacy in the championship he used to scare unexpecting defenders - pure energy - yes great dane like - heart is everything tho - he inspires the crowd, his team, unerves the defenders, is QPR, I would play him, I think Smith deserves a chance too - we had a good side last year - we all too easy put ourselves down. I think half our team looked freaked out mentally yesterday - we gave them and chelscum too much respect - did you see bothroyd and mackies game change once we scored - we got louder - the lane went library - the whole team tried harder - we had 26 mins of proud foot ball yesterday

I was gonna start a thread saying all of the above. Jamie for me gives 100 % every game and really is a true professional.
Plus the guy is a really nice fella to boot. He was more than happy to have his photo taken and have a chat with my kids
    Top bloke
