now 36 and has scored 16 goals for Exeter this season and scored 20 goals in the 2010/2011 season. Ok, so he's in League 2, but he is still prolific. I also noticed that a certain Alan Gow is also in the Exeter squad. Jamie is not quite at the Kevin Phillips level, but it's good to see him still knocking in the goals at 36. Cody Macdonald's career at Coventry has not been as successful as he probably would have liked, but he has not had many starts. Bell has stayed at Coventry and he has seen his career go downwards since he left CR. What ever happened to Gary Doherty, Jon Otsemobor, Hughes, Rob Earnshaw? Would like to know what has happened to squad members who have left, say, in the past 5 years.

Earnshaw was on soccer AM ok Saturday, think he's just been released by Cardiff.
I always rated Stephen Hughes, think his career was blighted with injuries however and a bit too lightweight to ever really make it.

Michael Nelson has joined Bradford City! Fancy him against Benteke at Villa Park next week?

Lee Croft went to Derby County now at Oldham on loan. Sammy Clingan presently at Doncaster (from Coventry?)

Bradford are thought to have paid just £30k for Nelsen. That's an absolute bargain.

Clingan couldn't agree a new contract with Coventry, knowing him he probably thought he could sign for a good Championship, he went to Doncaster about a third of the way through the season I believe, probably last resort for him. He has been released by them since though.

I too rated Stephen Hughes, though he was a good player like Munky though said was a bit lightweight. He's now at Aberdeen.

Heard on the radio that Ryan Jarvis scored for Torquay on Saturday. Shame he didn't develop as hoped.

It basically means you can't cope with the pressure of football if you suggested we bring back Cody from loan (ala Vaughan)

I'm sorry to say, when city fans brought it up to me I lost all respect for them...

I know this opinion may not be popular anymore, but this thread shows just how good a manager Paul Lambert is. All these players that are now playing and under-performing in the lower leagues were all fantastic League One players and very decent in the Championship for us. Looks like Chrissy Hughton is keeping up the good work as well.

It will be interesting to see where some of our current crop are in a few years time as well. I think it's fair to say quite a lot of them are playing above themselves at the moment, and that's intended as a positive. <ok>

    Remember this squad

    01 Theoklitos
    02 Otsemobor
    03 Drury
    05 Nelson
    12 Doherty yellow card
    04 Gill (Adeyemi 59)
    07 Tudur-Jones
    11 Whaley
    14 Hoolahan
    09 Holt
    16 Martin (McDonald 58)

    Substitutes
    31 Alnwick,
    15 Spillane,
    17 Adeyemi,
    19 Lappin,
    10 Cureton,
    27 McDonald,
    32 Maric

As Theoklitos only ever played one game you can probably guess which match this is from.

And where is the player aka Michael Theo now? According to Wiki ......

"On 14 March 2010, Theoklitos signed with the Brisbane Roar on a three-year deal worth 1 million dollars. He made his debut in round one of the A league season against Gold Coast United, in a 0–0 draw. Theoklitos registered a second clean sheet against Sydney FC in round two.

Following the 3–0 loss to Melbourne Victory, Theoklitos had gone 876 minutes without conceding a goal, setting a new record for the most minutes without conceding a goal in an Australian League—beating former recordholder Jeff Olver's record of 790 minutes. Theoklitos won the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the 2010/11 A-League season".

And how about Simon Whaley? He scored such a brilliant goal in a friendly to beat Crystal Palace just before the League One campaign started. It was so promising. Wiki says....

Whaley joined Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Chorley in August 2011, later opting to retire from playing in December 2011, due to a recurring knee injury and now intends to move into coaching

As this seems to be the thread for talking about our old players, Cody Mac has just been loaned back to Gillingham from Coventry. He scored 25 goals for them when we loaned him there, so hopefully this works out for him too

Im not sure if you will believe me but I actually know Cody.

My cousin Chris works or worked for a big rugby team as performance trainer, like a sports scientist and physio rolled into one, i think he worked for leicester but im not sure as he lives in witham and i dont see him very often.

He went to school with Cody and they remain good friends when i was in essex about 2 years ago i met Cody and spoke to him for a little while about the team and players etc..... He was really genuine and down to earth and was dissapointed that he ended up on loan, but he had no regrets and thought lambert was a great manager and was destined for big things.
