Poppies aren't political. Like lots of symbols, easy to manipulate to fuel your own agenda, happens on both sides.
Let's all hope he gets a move to the Saudi Arabian league and does the same then. I'm certain he'd be 'chopped' from the roster in no time.
How? Shudder. Off on a tangent, why in USA do they hate socialism, yet in the 'major' (shudder) leagues, do they allow the worst team the first pick in drafts? I don't lioke their leagues systems over there.
Because it is. Appeal is to draw attention to a cause whether it be monetary or raising awareness is a political act. Politics doesn't have involve Governments. Even though in this case it still does as the whole appeal is built on the fallout of Political events resulting in the deaths of the brave who served this country and it's territories. It's political in every way. it's helps the family's of people who died and die in conflict. That's political. It carries principles. That's politics. It generates awareness. That's politics. Then to add to that it now uses sport as a platform to raise this awareness. More politics. The people running the Appeal and the FA didn't telepathically come to agreement like soul mates or twins who just know what each other wants. They sat round a table, talked turkey, thrashed out the politics and came to an agreement to put poppies on football shirts. Mate, that's politics.

Cracking piece there mate & well said, I admire a man with principles.. You have set me wondering now whether Mesut Ozil wore a poppy on his shirt or whether any German/Italian players over here objected to it..
