Good point considering Jonjo's disallowed goal should have stood and we played 75 mins without a striker.

I think its clear now that while Emnes can be effective as an impact sub, he is not anywhere near good enough to be starting games. And that whole route 1 bollocks we were playing for the best part of an hour was dreadful to watch.

Why not lodge an appeal, get the score altered to 2-1,or even 4-1, because Gomis would have definitely scored two in the second half. <laugh>

Just got back home after the game.

Thought that a draw was probably a fair result.

From where I was sitting, couldn't work out why Shelvey's goal was disallowed - correct decision anyone?

Gomis looks a far more potent striker now - amazing what confidence can do for a player. Pity that he had to leave so early. Emnes is no way a " centre forward" - anyone know where Oliveira was?

In reality, after Gomis went off, we looked toothless upfront - a penalty was probably the only way we were going to score.......

Everton fans were arguably the quietest away support for quite a long time.

Likewise, watching it live you don't really get another look at it. No idea why it was disallowed but I heard the whistle just before Shelvey hit it.

Draw probably fair but Everton may have edged it. They certainly are a better team than I gave them credit for beforehand and much better than their position in the League suggests. Quick and accurate with their passing, great movement, and they looked a threat every time they came forward.

Opposite for us - poor passing (even from the normally reliable Ki) and very slow with no intensity. I do think that losing Gomis was the killer as hold-up play just isn't Marvin's game. When it was changed second half that left Gylfi running around chasing everything and that's a waste of a player with his talent. Not sure why Oliviera wasn't on the bench.

Also, I can't understand the Martinez reaction that it 'felt like a loss', that they 'dominated' the game and that the pen was harsh - despite Coleman grabbing the ball deliberately whilst on the floor. Always a risk doing that in the box, Bobby.

Anyone else think Williams was poor today? Pretty good in the air but gave the ball away more often than not particularly first half.

On a lighter note I see Cardiff didn't take any fans away today and their goal was almost missed by the commentator apparently because of the deafening silence. Slade said that his players would be spurred on by the fact they had no fans there. Yes, really. If they get a result they should play behind closed doors from now on. I wouldn't put it past Tan. <laugh>

65% happy with that result .
A draw was ok considering gomis was off early, it could have gone either way at times , our passing is not as good as it was and a bit of the usual inconsistency from a few again doesnt help. But were safe and maybe monks experimenting a bit now because maybe he thinks we wont get much higher up the table now ? but every spot counts £££ so hope the team aint going into holiday mode to soon !

Thank god we have a player of shelves calibre on the pitch or we would have lost that, the player who blows hot and cold is siggs and he has been freezing for a while now. Credit to emmes for getting the penalty through pressurising Everton's defence.......overall a fair result as neither team could have complained if they lost....

Don't think monk is experimenting, swantastic. It looked to me as if he didn't have many options from the bench and it shows just how thin we are in certain areas of the pitch.

We won't get higher in the League but mathematically we could end up in 10th or even the the bottom half - not the time for experimenting imo and Monk knows that.

Agreed we are thin on quality strength in depth as usual but we get by, but maybe they will think its time to address that in the summer at last ?
To much money at stake in placings but if to thin on choices he will have to throw in his fringe players like Emmnes experimenting on whos good enough out of those players to get us through the rest of the season .

Where we will be lucky this summer us that Monk won't be leaving and raiding the club to take our players/won't be many players shipped out so we can now add more quality and depth to our squad because since we've been in the PL we have lost a lot of players each summer and signings brought in have replaced those gone out, so a settled summer should allow us to build the depth of the squad and ensure that we have at least two top class strikers in our squad.

We will also need another RB in the summer. Won't be surprised if Rangel retires/moves on in the summer.

8th is ours for the taking and 10th should be the lowest we should go, Below that and the players are packing their suitcases and are ready for the beach....

I agree with that Valley. But it's up front that we seem to lack depth yet again. We always seem to rely on one main man and if he is out for some reason we struggle. Not sure what can be done to sort it out but we need two fit strikers that are up to this level. Assuming Gomis stays we need another. I'd love to see Michu back here, provided he's ready and willing because he's definitely able. Maybe he's got Laudrup out of his system and has come to realise how good things were with us.

Personally, I can't see it happening but you never know.

    Excellent penalty from Shelvey.
Everton whiniest bunch of thugs in the league.
    Mariner needs a refresher course.
No comment on the quality of our play or substitutions as they were up to the usual standard.
