Arsenal have maintained that they expect Wilshere to return ahead of the new season, despite the player having a minor knee operation in May that cleared up a long-standing issue. Metro.co.uk understands that Wilshere is making good progress and is still on course for a return for the start of the new season, after spending most of the summer at Arsenal's London Colney base working on his fitness. Wilshere is now poised to step up his training regime, to include more work with the ball, having spent a lot of his rehabilitation in the gym. The England midfielder is expected to meet with a specialist in the next few days to discuss his involvement in the Gunners' pre-season preparations. === Sadly there's no quotes in the full article, but they must have a source somewhere!! If Jack's back right from the start, that would be amazeballs
Sorry to be a cynic but, unless i see him playing with the rest of our players in pre-season, then this is all hearsay. He needs to be playing pre-season to be playing at the start of our next season. If he fails to play pre-season, then he has to start playing reserves. They won't rush him back and it'll take him around 4-6 weeks for him to get into the squad.
It was never 'that bad' an injury or 'that big' a surgery. It's amazing he was out soooo long. I see no reason why he should'nt return to 100% fitness soon enough. He's still young which is a big bonus in these instances.
Exclusive: Jack Wilshere will miss the start of the season - and England's first two World Cup qualifiers http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jack-wilshere-will-miss-the-start-of-the-season-947070 Jack Wilshere will miss the start of the season – and looks certain to miss the first two games of England’s World Cup qualifying campaign. The Arsenal star has been hailed as the man to give England the creative style lacking in the Euro 2012 finals. But he missed all of last season due to an ankle problem and will now not be fit until the middle of September. Wilshere has been put on a 12-week rehabilitation course after a double op – one to rectify his long-term ankle problem and Arsenal used the chance to sort out a knee tendon injury. Now, he looks like missing *England’s World Cup qualifiers with Moldova on September 7 and the home game against Ukraine four days later.
Even if he were healthy I'd fooking hope he'd miss those qualifiers anyway. What a pathetic message that would send out were he to start when he's not played in over a year. Stupid English media are doing their utmost to pressurise our players.
