Hunt switches Owls for Robins Friday, July 6th 2018 Jack Hunt has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Ashton Gate. The 27-year-old joins from Sky Bet Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee, becoming the club’s fifth summer signing. Hunt has more than 250 appearances in a career predominantly spent in the second tier of English football, so he is certain to add experience to the City ranks. Speaking of his latest edition, Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: “I think Jack is an excellent acquisition for us. “He is very experienced in the Championship and he is of a good age where he is coming into his prime. “He is a very tough competitor, he’s physically fit and he likes to maraud forward. “The signing gives us strong competition in that back line and that’s where we need to be because it’s a tough division with many, many games. “We are delighted to bring in a player of his quality and we look forward to welcoming him into the Bristol City family.” Having advanced through the Academy system at Huddersfield Town, Hunt had two temporary spells on loan at Grays Athletic and Chesterfield, before breaking into the Terriers first team. Named in the PFA League One Team of the Year in 2011/12, Hunt played a pivotal role in the club’s promotion to the Championship, where his performances captured the attention of Crystal Palace. An ankle injury hindered his Premier League career and upon return to fitness, he had successive loan spells with Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday. After impressing during a brief time at Hillsborough – where he made his debut against City - Hunt completed a permanent switch to the Owls in 2016 and has gone on to make 68 appearances.
