Just wondering what Leicester fans think will happen to Hobbs in the summer? Obviously Sven has not shown a lot of confidence in him by loaning him to us half way through the season, but he has played very well for us and I'd like us to sign him permanently. Is he likely to be available and what sort of fee would be needed if so? Cheers
Unless SGE has a much better defender in the pipe line Iôd get him back. I never understood this loan deal right from the start. Our DEF was not doing to well so we ship out one of our better players & to top it all off we loan him out to a team that was pushing for a play off spot. All I can say right now is I wish JH the best of luck what ever he does next season as I think heôs a top young player & SGE had really better get our (LC) DEF sorted out in the summer, infact the whole squad because we need to go up in 2011/12.
If we dont sign too many defenders, he'll be coming back and staying with us, cause once the loanees have gone, we have very little in defense (Bamba, Tunchev, Hobbs the only main central defenders atm), therefore he will prob be a permanent player in our squad next year. You need to hope that we sign at least 2 central defenders in the summer for a shot at him leaving for good i recon.
Tunchev contract is running out and Sven is in a dilemma whether to renew it with his injury record. That leaves just Hobbs and Bamba left. So we need to buy some centre halfs. I would give Tunchev a new deal, sign Ben Mee and keep Jack Hobbs leaving us with 4 centre halfs and if one gets injured we could loan another. Sign Greg Cunningham Try and sign Naughton and Vitor as well whether it will be another loan or permanent signings. If we cant get Naughton, Vitor could be the first choice right back next season but we will need some sort of cover
If we sign Vitor and Mee then he'll be 5th choice CB. Tunch, Bamba Vitor and Mee are all better than him.
But stupid to say all of them are better then Hobbs. Last season we was solid at the back and Jack Hobbs was a big reason why. This season we have leaked goals for fun even with and without Hobbs. I think Hobbs is the best defender we have at the club and it would be foolish to sell him
Best bet...................... Keep Hobbs get rid of Sven.............Then you can play the Leicester way ,Q.E.D.
If you have 4 CB's better than Hobbs then you must have one of the best defences in the league. I would think Hobbs would quite fancy signing for us after being snubbed by Sven. Be interesting to see how it pans out in the summer. Good luck for the rest of the season. Cheers
As with most issues like this, it is not an easy call - Last seasons player of the season does not suit the style of football we are now playing - As such common sense says you can't play him unless you need to try plan B. The natural next step is to say keep him and chuck him on when you need to mix things up, clearly though that's not going to go down well with Hobbs as he will want to play as much first team football as he can get, that said he is our player and under contract so the decision is Sven's and not Jacks or Pearson's
Hobbs just doesn't suit our style anymore - like Fryatt he's a good championship player who will do well under Pearson but would just sit on the bench here. Will be available for around 1.5 million if you want him I'd expect.
He can naff right off then, we can sign Daniel Ayala for around the same and is a much better player and younger. I think Hobbs will be our 3rd priority CB behind Ayala and Gerrard anyway.
Jack Hobbs is quality and is better then Gerrard. Liverpool wont sell Ayala and didnt they sell they will not loan him to you again?
I think most City (Hull) fans think Gerrard is better than Hobbs but I dont necessarily agree. He's steadily improved and looks like he's got a good future. I think if we can get him for ã1.5 million its a bargain. Hope it happens.
Gerrad is better than Hobbs. Theres more chance of Hobbs signing than Gerrard though. If Cardiff go up we won't go for Gerrard. Roy Hodgson said he wouldn't loan him to us again. Liverpool have since apologised and we're making an offer in the summer.
The Jack Hobbs of last season was arguably the best centre half in this league. This season he has had no guidance from anyone while last season he had Wayne Brown, Nigel Pearson and Chris Powell
