I'm expecting him to be out for months rather than weeks.

Such a shame, he was on fire. I guess we've gotta hope he's fit for the beginning of next season. I dont think he would have made the final 23 anyway (although he desrves it) but would have made the standby list.

My hope is he will be back for pre season training but even that may be overly optimistic....poor lad.my heart goes out to him.

Obviously you hope he can make it back for the World Cup, but realistically I think we should be looking for pre season.

If it's as bad as it looked, well be lucky to see him again in 2014

That's the worst cast scenario. If he's torn his ACL that's what we'll be looking at but hopefully it's A) not a tear and B) his medial ligament.

Pray for jay! Is it normal to be this worried about a saints player?! Its ruined my weekend!

Yes lets hope its not CCL. Although even with medial strains there's the possibility of meniscal tears.

I posted this on another thread but prob more relevant here:

I did exactly the same as Jay in my last game before Xmas. I jumped high for a ball to control it, came down on one leg and my knee gave way. I ruptured my medial ligaments. Seeing him do that today brought back some bad memories and made me wince.

I re-did mine last weekend, stupidly having a kick around with my 10yr old son. I've now torn my ACL aswell. Bad times!

Reckon Jay's medical care might be a bit better than mine though but if be astonished if he's back playing before preseason. Hope I'm wrong.

If I was a betting man, I'd say medial ligaments and back for pre-season.

Watching the replay, it looks worse and worse. Hopefully it's like Gaston and Lovren's injury that looked bad but were then only out for 6-8 weeks. If it is as bad as it looked, like an ACL tear, then we may well not see Jay back until the end of the year. Fingers crossed though!

It is difficult to watch the moment he gets injured again. He looks in so much pain, and is shouting "please, please" for help. You can tell when it is a bad one when you see all the players near him immediately stop and call on the physio.

I was sickened by the result on Saturday and pissed about some of the officiating but the loss of Jay Rodriguez dwarfed all that big time. He has been playing out of his skin lately as the rumours and speculation surrounding an England World Cup place have gathered momentum. I'm gutted on a number of fronts: he is our top scorer and arugably our player of the season so far; we are very light in attack even with him fit and I can't see who is going to step in and score almost a goal a game for us until the end of the season; but a much worse prospect for me is him perhaps missing out on the England call-up. I guess the only positive we can take from this, and know that it is very slight and I'm desperately trying to be positive, is that our season is virtually done and dusted. We don't have a lot to play for but if were facing relegation or were locked in a battle for 5th or 6th place then losing our top scorer could be catastrophic. In his absence we can afford to experiment a little and it will give another player a chance to show what he is capable of. Team-wise I would probably give Gallagher the majority of his game time.
