    Official now.

Wish the guy well but don't get too comfy!

One fall out with Deeney and co and he'll be gone.

He's just had a season under the eyes of the Georgian Mafia - known as the most ruthless criminal group in the world. Dealing with Troy will be like dealing with an annoying fly for him...;)

Probably well on his way to getting it. This cannot be an overnight deal, they'd seen enough weeks ago.

They said he was in talks last week to be the assistant.

Maybe the players got wind of this and thought it might be a way to get rid of Ivic!?

Getting the usual stuff coming out about how he wasn’t popular and tried to ban things which upset the players.

I was not particularly bothered about Ivic until Saturday's game. It was then I thought that he had to go. Before, I gave him the benefit of the doubt about his cautiousness as it seemed to be working even whilst it was incredibly boring. I think the Huddersfield match showed up all the flaws in his footballing philosophy. Under his leadership I think that if we go behind we will stay behind.
I can understand the players getting frustrated with this approach but I don't think the disagreement with Deeney resulted in Ivic going. His potential successor had already been appointed though the decision to get rid of him wasn't made until Huddersfield.

When can the new bloke start? Will he have to be in quarantine for a couple of weeks?

The Pozzo's have always had someone lined up before they pulled the trigger
Apart from Pearson that appeared to just go straight to nuclear

the owners are ruthless , no question , but surely they need to examine their own record in appointments, any incoming coach will be only expecting short term engagment, which then must change their thinking .
I suppose the merry go round is normal in top flight football , just seems the watford one throws people off more than any other .........the year of promotion saw four different managers , only the players remained constant .....ish. one of those was due to illness so three in a season ,

The year of promotion saw four managers, yes - but not all the changes were due to the owners being ruthless. One, as you say, due to illness - but their ruthlessness only applied to his replacement - Billy McKinlay. The first change that season was the surprise departure of Beppe Sannino, who chose to walk away. That was a surprise because the team were performing quite well for the four games he was in charge for - three wins and one loss.

I'd dispute that we throw people off more than any other club too. Check Palace's record - until they employed Hodgson, they'd had 13 managers in five years.

I suspect McKinlay was only supposed to be a caretaker tbh - and I remember his 2 games were pretty poor.

I think Bepe hadf a falling out with the squad - maybe because he didn't speak the lingo!?

If we were mid table or below which our performances this season suggest we ought to be then no-one would have batted an eye lid really.

People just see we are 5th and Ivic won MOTM so go "What has happened here"

It's only in the last year or so things have got more trigger happy.

From memory, Beppe was quoted as saying that he thought he had taken the team as far as he could - which to me indicated that he knew his limitations.

And McKinley was satisfied with a mediocre home draw...
I think the Pozzo's constantly look at themselves, I think they're fully aware of the shortcomings of some of their coaching appointments but we do know that they've got an awful lot more right. Throw in that the football authorities seem to change the rules as they play the system and with brexshit coming up (invested in an English spine) I think they have plenty in credit and get a lot more right than they do wrong.

If any incoming coach is only expecting a short term engagement then they will see it as a stop gap appointment to pay a few bills until something better comes along - it rather reduces our pool of possible managers. No self respecting manager would come here under their set up.

I have to say that a phone call to dismiss a manager is not very professional.
