Its pumpkin time

Will be carving one in the next day or two probs. We have her 7yr old neice round for the weekend tomorrow so ive said ill join in with the pumpkin carving.

Ive opted out of the "spa evening" as relaxing as that sounds.

It wont look anything like this but ill try my best.

I remember its was quite a thing in my nans house, apples in buckets was a big thing, im sure the adults ran a book on it or something actually

 

The smell was different in a turnip too. Halloween I associate the smell of candles in turnip and Christmas the smell old tree lights used to make

 

Its best when your in your teens/20s tbh mate. cos all the birds are dressed like strippers

Cant say ive ever burned a candle in a turnip to know the smell lol i do know thats an oldskool irish thing to scare off evil spirits tho.

Tbh when I was a kid there was always some **** somewhere ruining my day turning up with a pumpkin that blew my fathas turnip efforts out the water

 

lol, when I was a kid me n my mates went to get a pumpkin but there weren't any left, so we got the biggest swede.
It didn't come out well.

A lot of them were just very old and poorly maintained, screwed up in a heap and chucked in the loft for a year. Then brought out and plugged in amongst a another heap of flammable materials.

LEDs are probably the best thing to happen to Christmas recently

 

Me and the mrs have been drunk and stolen someone elses pumpkins more than once is all im sayin

Remember getting noshed off by some little smoker dressed in a Basque after her and her mates had been to see the Rocky Horror picture show up the west end one Halloween. Kept that one in the **** bank for years

 

It's another thing this country has lost.. They're all spoilt rotten these days.. They've all got pumkins these days.. Part of what was good about Halloween was watching your father under pressure to carve out your turnip.
