I would like to express my condolences to the family & friends of Australian cricketer, Phillip Hughes who has died 2 days after being hit on the head by a cricket ball (despite wearing a helmet) - a tragic waste of a life at a young age (25). On an equally serious note - this event must prompt the manufacturers of cricket helmets to examine their equipment - to redesign it - using more appropriate materials - fit for purpose - rather than being no more use than something cosmetic. We may discuss issues of sport becoming too sanitized -but that can never be the case if somebody dies through any apathy towards safety. R.I.P. Phillip.
